generally recognized that the first radio transmission was made from
a temporary station set up by Guglielmo Marconi in 1895 on the Isle
of Wight.
However, the radio broadcasting of music and talk intended to reach
a dispersed audience started experimentally around 1905–1906, and
commercially around 1920 to 1923.
The first authorized broadcasts took place in 1922 in England.
Sound broadcasting in this sense may be said to have started about
1920, while television broadcasting began in the 1930s. With the
appearance of cable television in the early 1950s and the use of
satellites for broadcasting beginning in the early 1960s, television
reception improved and the number of programs receivable increased
dramatically.(kapansin-pansin)
