Grade 7 Science Quarter 1 Lesson 3

We wanted to find out whether the amount of water will have an effect on the growth of monggo
seeds.

IV: amount of water DV: number of sprouted seeds/ growth of monggo seeds

Problem: Does the amount of water affect the growth of monggo seeds?

Hypothesis: The amount of water does affect the growth of monggo seeds.

Controlled Variables: sunlight, amount and type of soil, fertilizer, type of seeds, type of
water,

Experimental Design:
1. Cup E - Control Group - no water (0mL) 4. Cup C - Exptl Group 3 - 3 tbsp water (45mL)
2. Cup A - Exptl Group 1 - 1 tbsp water (15mL) 5. Cup D - Exptl Group 4 - 4 tbsp water (60mL)
3. Cup B - Exptl Group 2 - 2 tbsp water (30mL)
Problem: Does the amount of water affect the growth of monggo seeds?

Hypothesis: The amount of water does affect the growth of monggo seeds.

DATA TABLE:
Problem: Does the amount of water affect the growth of monggo seeds?

Hypothesis: The amount of water does affect the growth of monggo seeds.

Analysis:
Based on the data, as the amount of water increases, the number of seeds that sprouted also
increases. This is because water is an important factor that helps plants grow. Water is used by all living
things to in their life processes. Therefore, as more water is added to plants, more life processes are
being made. This will help plants grow.

Conclusion:
By testing the effect of varying amounts of water on growing monggo plants, this investigation has
proven that the amount of water affects the germination and height of the monggo plants. The
experimental results also suggest that the higher the amount of water given, the more seeds will
germinate. Therefore, the hypothesis that states that the amount of water does affect the growth of
the monggo seeds is accepted.
