Overview of the Lecture
The main objective of this course is to provide a
comprehensive understanding of research in the area of
regional information for senior students.

With the help from advisor, students learn theories, methods


and current topics in the area of regional information.

Students choose his/her own topic for research or may choose


a case study after relevant industry field work.

Advisor will guide students’ research so that they can develop


it for their thesis required for graduation.

Detailed Overview
1) Strengthening the ability to write papers for 4th graders
majoring in Regional Information (3’rd graders possible)
 Lectures for cultivating thesis writing skills such as graduation thesis
through research in the field of regional information

2) Selection of an Advisor
 Expertise in topics of interest and congruency in interests of students

3) Evaluation Criteria
 Academic and practical value of the paper and composition
requirements and format of the paper

4) Allocation of Evaluation
 Instructor in Charge (20%) + Thesis Advisor (80%)

Class Schedule

1) Week 1: (Sept. 4) Introduction and Selection of Advisor

2) Week 2 - 3: Meeting with advisor (Need a prior appointment)

3) Week 4 – Week 7: Self-study

4) Week 8: (Oct. 243) Presentation of Mid-term Report (English)

5) Week 9 – Week 14: Self-study

6) Week 15: (Dec. 11) Presentation of Final Paper(Thesis), either


Korean or English

- Thesis: A4, 15 to 30 pages in length

Structure of the Mid-term Report
With Title of the study, the proposal has to include

1) Objective of the Thesis (Half page long)


 Purpose, Importance, Timeliness, Necessity of the Thesis

2) Research Hypothesis or Question(Half page long)


 What you want to prove through research

3) Research Method and Data (1 page long)


 Deductive vs. Inductive, Quantitative vs. Qualitative (or both)

4) Expected Results (1 page long)


 Based on the Research hypothesis(question)

5) ET CETERA
3 to 5 ppt slides, English only
3 to 5 minutes presentation in English
