Can
Can: forms
Affirmative (+) form
Can comes first in the verb phrase (after the subject and before another verb):
We [verb phrase]
take the train to Birmingham.

Can is never used with another modal verb:

He can hear the music from his room sometimes.


Not:He can might hear the music.

Negative (-) form


The negative form of can is can’t. We don’t use
don’t/doesn’t/didn’t with can:

I can’t believe you said that!


Not: I don’t can believe you said that!

We can use the full form cannot (one Word) in formal contexts or when we want to emphasise
something:

-I cannot understand why she behaves me like that

Could/Couldn’t
-Could and Couldn’t are the past tense forms of Can and Can’t.

-Could and Couldn’t refers to ability or inability in the past.

We use Could to mean that we were able to do something in the past.


-When she was 1, she could walk.

We use Couldn’t to mean that we weren’t able to do something in the past.


-When she was 1, she couldn’t speak

Do
Do: forms
Do is irregular verb. Its three forms are do,did,done. The present simple third person
singular is does:
-Will you do a job for me ?
-I did some shopping this morning.
-Have you done your breakfast yet ?
-He usually does his breakfast in front of television.

Do is one of the three auxiliary verbs in English: be,do,have. We use do to make negatives
(do+not), to make question forms, and to make the verb more emphatic

Simple Past Tense
The simple past is a verb tense that is used to talk about things that happened or
existed before now.

-How to make the simple past negative


The formula is did not+ [root form of verb]. You can also use the contraction
didn’t instead of did not.
