CLASSIFICATION
AND PREVENTION
THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF IMPROVEMENT IN THE QUALITY OF SPORTS EQUIPMENT , SAFETY
EQUIPMENT AND THE SKILLS OF THE PLAYERS , HOWEVER THE CHANCES OF SPORTS INJURIES
STILL PREVAIL
SPORTS INJURIES MAY BE SIMPLE ABRASION , CUTS , FRACTURE OR DISLOCATION OF A JOINT
DURING TRAINING OR ANY COMPETITION. INJURIES ARE VERY COMMON IN SPORTS

 A. EXTERNAL INJURIES---THESE INJURIES ARE CAUSED DUE TO EXTERNAL FACTORS
SUCH AS IMPROPER SPORTS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT UNEVEN SURFACE OF COURT OR
PLAY FIELD , NOT WEARING SAFETY GUARDS/ HELMETS AND IMPROPER TECHNIQUES.
EXTERNAL INJURIES OCCUR OUTSIDE THE BODY OR ON SKIN AND ARE VISIBLE.

 INTERNAL INJURIES--- INTERNAL INJURIES ARE CAUSED DUE TO OVER EXERSION OF


OUR BODY
 THESE INJURIES ARE INTERNAL AND THEY ARE NOT VISIBLE .IF A MINOR INJURY IS
IGNORED AND THE INDIVIDUAL CONTINUES TO EXERT HIMSELF FURTHER , IT MAY LEAD TO
SERIOUS INTERNAL DAMAGE.

CAUSES OF SPORTS

INJURIES
SPORT INJURIES ARE THOSE INJURIES OCCURS DURING TRAINING OR DURING SPORTS.
 THERE ARE MAY BE MANY CAUSES OF SPORTS INJURIES SUCH AS

 LACK OF PHYSICAL FITNESS--- FITNESS AND FOREMOST PREREQUISITE OF AN


ATHLETE IS HIS PHYSICAL FITNRESS.
 PHYSICAL FITNESS OF AN ATHLETE IS ALSO RELATED TO PHYSIOLOGICAL FITNESS .IF
THE RATIO OF BONE DENSITY AND MUSCULAR STRENGTH OF AN ATHLETE IS NOT
ACCURATE THEN HE WILL NOT ABLE TO PERFORM BETTER AND THEIR WILL BE
CHANCES OF INJURIES
 FOR EXAMPLE-- IF A SHOT PUTTER IS NOT HAVING THE REQUIRED STRENGTH HE WILL
NOT ABLE TO DISPLAY GOOD PERFORMANCE AND IS LIKELY TO LOSE BALANCE AND
FALL DOWN.
 LACK OF PROPER CONDITIONING --- PROPER BODY CONDITIONING IS
ALSO ESSENTIAL FOR EVERY ATHLETE.FOR EXAMPLE– A LONG JUMPER NEEDS TO BE A
VERY GOOD SPRINTER . HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SUM-UP SPEED WITH JUMPING ABILITIES AND
HAVE KINESTHTIC SENSE TO MAINTAIN BODY BALANCE IN THE AIR.
THESE THREE ABILITIES ARE REQUIRED TO BECOME A GOOD LONG JUMPER.HENCE EVERY
ATHLETE SHOULD CONDITION HIS BOSY BEFORE CHOOSING ANY GAME OR SPORTS
LACK OF PROPER SPORTS EQUIPMENT--- IF SPORTS EQUIPMENTS ARE IMPROPER OR
SUSTANDARD CHANCES OF INJURIES INCREASES IT IDS NESSESARY THAT ALL THE EQUIPMENT
MUST BE OF GOOD QUALITY FOR EXAMPLE--- IF WIRE , HANDLE AND HOOK OF A HAMMER IS NOT
OF GOOD QUALITY IT MAY BREEAK DURING THROW AND THE THROWER MAY SUFFER FATAL

DURING CYCLING IF THERE IS ANY DEFECT IN THE WHEEL ,RIMOR PEDAL FATAL ACCIDENTS MAY

LACK OF STANDARD EQUIPMENT– ADEQUATE SAFETY EQUIPMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR
THE PLAYERS IN EVERY SPORTS SUCH AS HELMETS , LEG GUARDS , GLOVES AND LANDING PITS
IF THE EQUIPENTS ARE NOT OF STANDARD QUALITY THERE ARE ALWAYS CHANCES OF INJURIES
FOR EXAMPLE– IF LANDING PIT OF THE POLE VOULT AND HIGH JUMP IS NOT OF A GOOD
STANDARD QUALITIY , ATHLETE MAY SUFFER FATAL INJURIES
LACK OF SKILLS--- IF THE ATHLETES ARE NOT PROPERLY SKILLED CHANCES OF
INJURIES INCRESASES FOR EXAMPLE – IF A DIVER IS NOT AWARE OF THE SKILL OF
DIVING HE MAY FRACTURES HIS RIBS . HENCE IT IS ADVISED THAT EVERY ATHLETE SHOULD
PRACTICE THE SKILL OF HIS GAME DURING TRAINING IN ORDER TO AVOID INJURIES.
FAULTY TRAINING METHOD--- SCIENTIFIC TRAINING METHODS OF TRAINING PROTECTS
THE TRAINEES FROM SPORTS INJURIES. IF THE TRAINING IS UNORGANISED AND FAULTY THE
CHANCES OF INJURIES INCREASES ATHLETES SHOULD TRY TO UNDERSTANDF THE AIMS AND
OBJECTIVES OF A TRAINING SESSION.
LACK OF NUTRIENTS IN DIET– NUTRIENTS PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN ENSURING GOOD
HEALTH OF THE ATHLETES. HENCE ATHLETES SHOULD TAKE A BALANCE DIET RICH IN
NUTRIENTS
ATHLETES MAY BECOME PHYSICALLY WEAK DUE TO LACK OF NUTRIENTS IN DIET ,

DONE MUSLCES OF THE ATHLETES REMAIN STIFF , INFLEXIBLE AND SUPPLY OF NUTRIENTS AND
OXYGEN IS IMPROPER AS A RESULT ATHLETES SUFFER INJURIES.
FATIGUE---ATHLETES NEED PROPER REST IN ORDER TO RECOVER BEFORE EVERY TRAINING OR
COMPETITION .ATHLETES SHOULD KNOW HOW MUCH TRAINING WOULD BE SUITABLE FOR THEM .
IF ATHLETES TRAIN TOO HARD THEY MAY FEEL FATIGUED THIS ADVERSELY AFFECTS THE
ATHLETES PERFORMANCE AND CHANCES OF INJURY INCREASES
CARELESSNESS--- ATHLETES ARE OFTEN CARELESS ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL SAFETY DURING A
MATCH THEY AVOID USING SAFETY EQUIPMENTS DO NOT OBEY SAFETY RULES. SOMETIMES
