WRITING A RESEARCH

TITLE
(QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH)

FRANCISCA I. MONZON
SUBJECT TEACHER (PR2)
COMPETENCY

The learner writes a research title.

GUIDELINES IN WRITING THE TITLE
(CALDERON AND GONZALES, (2019)

1. The title is formulated before the start of the research work. It may be revised
and refined later if necessary.
2. The title must contain the subject matter of the study, the locale of the study,
the population involved, and the period when the data were gathered or will be
gathered.
3. It must be broad enough to include all the aspects of the subject matter
studied or to be studied. Hence, the title indicates what is expected to be found
inside the thesis report.
GUIDELINES IN WRITING THE TITLE
(CALDERON AND GONZALES, (2019)

4. It must be as brief and concise as possible.

5. Avoid using the terms “An Analysis of,” “A Study of,” “An Investigation of,”
and the like. All these things are understood to have been done when a research
is conducted.
6. If the title contains more than one line, it must be written like an inverted
pyramid, all words in capital letters.
Some tips in formulating your topic:
(Lee, Ballena, Pareja, Gochuico, & Puzon, 2014)
1. Think of a general topic. This should consist of at least two words.

2. Think of concepts related to that topic.

3. Try to see relationships between the concepts and your topic.

You can try formulating questions to lead you into a possible topic.

4. Formulate a possible research topic. There should be at least two words

Characteristics of a Good Title
(Faltado,Bombita, Boholano,& Pogoy, 2016)

1. A title should give readers information about the contents of

the researcher and is preferable to one that is vague or general.
2. Titles do not need to be stuffy or dull, but they should
generally give readers some idea at the outset of what the
research paper will contain.
3. Choose a title that is a phrase rather than a complete sentence.
Characteristics of a Good Title
(Faltado,Bombita, Boholano,& Pogoy, 2016)

marks.
