What is a Paragraph?

A paragraph is a group of sentences that


focus on a single idea. A complete paragraph
begins with a topic sentence, has sentences
that support the main idea, and ends with a
concluding sentence.

When writing your paragraph think of a hamburger.
Hamburgers have many different ingredients that
make it complete. Check out the diagram on the next
slide to see the steps to writing a paragraph. This
diagram will help make sure you have all the
‘ingredients’ for a good paragraph!

Use the organizer on the next slide to organize your ideas.
Remember to organize it in proper sequence and use transition words as At First, then,
next, after, later, finally, etc. Have fun writing!!

complete paragraph! Remember to use punctuation (period,
question mark or exclamation point) at the end of each
sentence.
