regular nouns by adding /s/ or /es/ (e.g., dog,
dogs; wish, wishes)

Directions: Write on the board the plural form of the noun found before the blank.

Motivation: GALLERY WALK!
Direction: Select 2 spots inside the room/covered
court. Post on the wall different plural nouns
following rules no. 5-6. Divide the groups into 2.
Let them take turns in visiting each spot. As they
hear your signal, they will transfer from 1 rule to
the other. Together they are going to read the
nouns posted. After the activity, call volunteers
to share their experiences and learnings.

Elver, the Elf

One summer day, Elver, the elf, woke up with
a bright smile on his face upon seeing his
mother cook his favorite food. “Oh Mother, thank
you for being the best chef in the world”, he said.
“This is my favorite! I like the smell.”.
“Of course, my dearest son,” Mother said while
slicing an apple with a sharp knife.
Elver sat down after helping his mother prepare the
food and started to eat when his father arrived from
gathering firewood.
He divided the food into halves and gave it to his
father. Together, they ate the food prepared by their
mother. Elver’s mother is a housewife who loves her
family dearly.
Elver was so blessed to have a loving family.

known as a plural noun.
REMEMBER:
Rules to follow in forming plural form of regular
nouns:
Rule 5: Change the -f/fe to -ves to nouns ending in -f or -fe.
Examples:
knife - knives elf – elves
housewife – housewives half - halves
Rule 6: Add -s to nouns ending in -f, -ff, and -ffe .
Examples:
chef - chefs
giraffe - giraffes
muff – muffs

INTERACTIVE Activity : DOWN TO TOWN.
Directions: Divide the class into 4 groups. Each group
will be provided with a basket, a shirt, a handkerchief,
and a boot. Wear the shirt, the hanky on the head, and
the boot, while holding the basket from point A going to
point B where they are going to pick up the plural form
of the words. On point A, match the picked-up words
with the words posted on the wall. The group with
highest point wins. The children take turns in playing
as the game progresses.
