ACTIVE- PASSIVE VOICE

KALIMAT AKTIF DAN PASIF
“ACTIVE VOICE”

 Kalimat bisa berupa kalimat aktif dan pasif. Kalimat aktif adalah kalimat yang subjeknya
melakukan perbuatan. Jadi, subjeck kalimat tersebut merupakan Pelaku perbuatan.
 Examples of Active sentences.
 1. Alex posts a letter once a month.
 2. He did an experiment at the laboratory last week.
 3. They have finished their tasks on time.
 4. we will have done the assignment at library for an hour.
“ PASSIVE VOICE “

 Kalimat pasif adalah kalimat dimana subject-nya bukan pelaku perbuatan.


Dalam kalimat pasif, subject kalimat adalah penerima tindakan.
 Examples of Passive sentences.
 1. Andi is visited by his mother everymonth.
 2. They are being interviewed in room seven right now.
 3. The fruit was bought from the big supermarket last night.
 4. The manager was being offered some programs by the owner.
 5. Mr. Anwar has been received as a new member of this group.
EXPLANATION about PASSIVE VOICE.

 Untuk mengubah kalimat aktif kedalam kalimat pasif.


 Let’s follow the following steps
 A. Secara umum pola umum kalimat pasif.
To be + Verb 3 ( Past Participle )

Secara umum, kalimat pasif dibentuk oleh to be yang diikuti kata kerja bentuk
ketiga ( verb 3 )
Ada beberapa rules atau aturan utk mengubah kalimat aktif dan pasif.
 1. Object kalimat aktif berubah menjadi subject kalimat pasif
 2. Tense dari kalimat pasif mengikuti tense kalimat aktifnya.
 3. Verb 3 dalam kalimat pasif dibentuk oleh verb pada kalimat aktif.
 4. Hanya kalimat aktif berobject yang bisa diubah menjadi kalimat pasif.
 Berikut ini adalah rumus / pola kalimat pasif untuk beberapa tenses
SIMPLE PRESENT OR SIMPLE PAST TENSE

 Are + ( Verb 3 ( past participle )

 Active : Andri drinks a glass of coffee every morning
 Passive : A glass of coffee is drunk by Andri every morning.
 Active : The tornado destroyed thirty houses.
 Passive : Thirty houses were destroyed by the tornado.
“PRESENT PROGRESSIVE AND PAST
PROGRESSIVE TENSE”

Active : The committee was considering several new proposals


Passive : Several new proposals were being considered by the
committee.
PRESENT PERFECT OR PAST PERFECT

 HAVE + BEEN + ( VERB 3 / PAST PARTICIPLE )

 Active : The company has ordered some new equipment
 Passive : Some new equipment has been ordered by the company
 Active : The company had ordered some new equipment before the
 strike began.
 Passive : Some new equipment had been ordered by the company
 before the strike began.
EXAMPLES

 ACTIVE : My brother will learn mathematics today.


 PASSIVE : Mathematics will be learnt by my brother today.

 MODALS + PERFECT
 Modal + have + been + ( Verb in past participle )
 Active : Rendy should have taken the medicine this morning.
 Passive : The medicine should have been taken by Rendy this-
 morning.
QUESTIONS TO ANSWER

Change the following sentences from active to passive voice.
