Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Theory

 What is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder?

is a mental disorder of the

neurodevelopmental type.
It is characterized by
problems paying
attention, excessive
activity, or difficulty
controlling behavior.
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Theory
This theory claims that:

a.) Juvenile Delinquency is caused by immaturity and

hyperactivity.
b.) Grade schoolers usually experience attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder, which is characterized by:
 Short attention
span
A short attention span can have several
negative effects, including:

 poor performance at school

 inability to complete daily tasks
 missing important details or information
 communication difficulties in
relationships
 DAY DREAMING
-Daydreams involve the child
focusing their attention on their
internal thoughts rather than on
their external environment.

 PREOCCUPATION
- Or preoccupied, you are
thinking a lot about something or
someone, and so you hardly
notice other things.
 Sluggishness
refers to a lack of
energy or enthusiasm, a
feeling of being slow or
lazy.
Impulsivity / Impulsiveness

is the tendency to act

without thinking.
 The symptoms appear before a person is twelve years
old, are present for more than six months, and cause
problems in at least two settings (such as school, home,
or recreational activities).

 In children, problems paying attention may result in

poor school performance. Although it causes
impairment, particularly in modern society, many
children with ADHD have a good attention span for
tasks they find interesting.
 It's important to remember that ADHD is a complex
condition, and its impact on an individual's behavior can
vary widely. Early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and
support from parents, teachers, and mental health
professionals can help individuals with ADHD manage
their symptoms and reduce their risk of engaging in
delinquent activities.

 Not all individuals with ADHD will engage in delinquent

behavior, and many can lead successful and law-abiding
lives with the right interventions and support.
