Mica, My Best Friend

If I would name one of my most favorite persons in the world, it would
be Mica. She is my best friend since grade one. She is very sweet. She
always cheers me up when I feel lonely. Mica deeply cares for me.
Though we have misunderstandings sometimes, we see to it that it
wouldn’t last entirely for the day. We absolutely enjoy each other’s
company. We often eat our lunch together in school. We appreciate our
friendship too much. We will never do anything to ruin our friendship.

What is an adverb?
An adverb is a word/a set of words that
modifies verbs, adjectives, and other
adverbs. It tells when, where, and how an
action is performed or indicates the quality
or degree of the action.
What are adverbs of Intensity?
ADVERBS OF INTENSITY - tell the degree or the extent to
which something happens. It always answers the question
“How much?”.

Example: Mary is very beautiful.

OTHER EXAMPLES: quite, too, entirely, extremely,


almost, barely, just, fairly, enormously

Construct your own sentences by describing the action taken in the
illustration.

What is an Adverb of Frequency??
What are adverbs of Frequency?
ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY - tell how often an action occurs.
It answers the question “how frequently/often?”

Example: He always gets good grades in Math.

OTHER EXAMPLES: usually, seldom, rarely, occasionally,


constantly, sometimes, never, often
Adverbs of Frequency?

Kung ang isang salita ay tumutugon sa tanong na "Gaano kadalas?", ang adverb
na ito ay isang halimbawa ng Adverb of Frequency.
Ilan sa mga halimbawa ng Adverb of frequency ay ang:

Never (hindi ni minsan)


Always (palagi)
Rarely ( bihira)
Sometimes (minsan)
Usually (kadalasan)
Again (uli o ulit)
Adverbs of Frequency?

Ang Adverb of Frequency ay kadalasang ginagamit sa mga paulit-ulit na gawain kung kayat ito
ay madalas gamitin sa Present tense.

 She USUALLY shops on Sundays. (Kadalasan syang namimili sa araw ng Linggo_ ibig
sabihin, tuwing Linggo sya namimili at ito ay paulit-ulit na gawain.)
I rarely attend morning class. (Bihira akong pumasok sa pang-umagang klase)

 Kung ang pangungusap ay mayron lamang isang verb, ang Adverb of frequency ay dapat nasa
gitna at kasunod ng subject.
He NEVER sleeps. (Tama)
He sleeps NEVER. (Mali)
Adverbs of Frequency?
Kung ang pangungusap ay mayroong higit sa isang verb, ang Adverb of
frequency ay dapat nasa unahan ng main verb.

 I have NEVER met him. (Ang have ay isang uri ng verb na tinatawag na
auxiliary verb at kadalasang ginagamit sa Perfect tense na pangungusap.)

 The baby can SOMETIMES walk on her own. (Ang "can" ay isang uri ng
modal verb. Ang main verb sa pangungusap ay walk. Kung mapapansin niyo,
ang Adverb of Frequency na "sometimes" ay nasa pagitan ng modal verb (can)
at main verb (walk)
Adverbs of Frequency?

Suriin po ang larawan sa ibaba, ipinapakita sa chart sa pamamagitan ng


paggamit ng percentage (%) kung gaano kadalas nangyayari ang isang uri ng
Adverb of FREQUENCY.

 Ang salitang frequency ay nagmula sa rootword na frequent na ang ibig


sabihin ay "dalas" and its adverb is frequently.

while he sprays water.
Kinds of Sentences according to Structure:

1. SIMPLE– consists of one independent clause

Example: Penelope likes coffee.

2. COMPOUND - consists of two or more independent clauses joined by a


coordinating conjunction or semi-colon

Examples: I like coffee and Mary likes tea.


3. COMPLEX – consists of an independent clause and a dependent clause
joined by a subordinating conjunction

Example: We missed our plane because we were late.

4. COMPOUND-COMPLEX – consists of at least two independent


clauses and one or more dependent clauses

Example: John didn’t come because he was sick so Mary was sad.
