Prepared by: Paulo Freitas WASH BORING Definition is a boring system by which material loosened by a bit is borne to the surface in the annular space between the bit and casing by water forced down through the pipe bearing the bit WASH BORING WASH BORING Wash Boring is a fash and simple method for advancing holes in all types of soils.
Boulders ans Rock cannot be penetrated by this
method.
The method consist in first driving a casing through which
a hollow drill rod with a sharp chisel or chopping bit at the lower end is inserted. RESULTS Water emerge as a strong jet through small openning of the chopping bit.
The hole is advanced by the combination of
chopping action and jetting action
The resulting chopping and jetting action of the bit and
water disintegrates the soil
The water and the chopped soil particles are raised upward through the annular space and soil particles are collected REAL LIFE Advantages
01 Equipment’s are light and inexpensive
Disadvantages
01 Slow in stiff soil and coarse grained soils
Cannot be used efficiently in hard soils, rocks
02 and soil containing boulders.
Not suitable for taking good quality Undisturbed
03 samples above the ground water table. END PRESENTATION THANK YOU.........!
