Which System Matters?
Lesson 1. ENERGY SYSTEM
 FOOD- SOURCE OF ENERGY
 CELLULAR RESPIRATION – the process of converting food
in our body to make nutrients out of the food you ate.
Food = ATP
 ATP – ADENOSINE TRIPHOSPHATE - A MOLECULAR ENERGY
that supply muscle cells to do any physical activity.
 LACTIC ACID – substance made by muscle tissue and by
the red blood cells w/c carry oxygen from lungs to other
parts of the body
THREE TYPES OF
ENERGY SYSTEM
1. ATP-CP SYSTEM Ex. Pushing bed, sofa lifting
things
2. GLYCOLYSIS(Anaerobic) ex. Weightlifting, shotput
3. OXIDATIVE(Aerobic) ex. Swimming, marathon,
cycling, basketball
Why do we need energy in our
body?
 Energy fuels your body’s internal functions,
repairs, builds and maintains cells and body
tissues, and support the external activities that
enable you to interact with the physical world.

 Weall need energy to grow, stay alive, keep

warm and be active.
