1. What aspect of this school would you recommend to
each student and why?

Asking this shows you value their insight and want to

know what they find important. They may talk about
how impactful a program is, such as a career
development program, and advise you to take advantage
of this during your time at the school.

2. What can you tell me about “X” program?

Before your college interview, research specific

programs you’re interested in so you can question the
interviewer about them. Asking this shows you did
significant research about the school in advance. Listen
to their answer to ensure the program is what you are
looking for.

Asking this question shows the interviewer you

recognize there are obstacles to overcome in college, but
you are preparing for them now. It’s possible they can

49. 理论课程 vs 实践课程

Theoretical courses vs practical courses

With respect to this debate, I would prefer to adopt a “middle-of-the-road” position.
I think each type of course serves its own distinct purpose.

理论课程:

a. Just as a high-rise building cannot be erected without a solid foundation and sound
framework, students must first acquire foundational knowledge in order to learn
practical skills.

b. Given that theory lays the foundation for practice, the importance of fundamental
courses in higher education cannot be underestimated.

实践课程:

a. With intense domestic and global competition in the job market, students must
learn skills that will enable them to fill a need in society once they have finished their
studies.

b. Practical courses are superior to theoretical courses in preparing students for the
job market and they can enable students to solve real-world problems.

50. 学术课程 vs 非学术课程

Universities should teach only “academic” subjects, while

“non-academic” subjects should be removed from the course
calendar. Do you agree or disagree?

更多英语干货 关注新浪微博: @Alpass-Max

I don't agree with this opinion. The diverse selection of subjects
offered at universities or colleges reflects the diversity of society itself.

Subjects that are sometimes labeled as “non-academic” have their

own intrinsic value in both academia and society in general.

If subjects such as music, art and physical education were shunned by

universities, society would face a gradual stagnation of talented
musicians, actors and athletes.

51. 最喜欢的名言是什么?

What's your favorite motto?

更多英语干货 关注新浪微博: @Alpass-Max

简单版:
My personal favorite is “ 励志名言” . During times when I find myself
intimidated by the magnitude of life's challenges, this motto is an
important source of personal motivation.

This one simple phrase reminds me that, as long as I remain determined,

there will always be a path that leads me to the realization of my goals.

复杂版:
My personal favorite is “Keep moving.” Everyone suffers occasional defeats and
setbacks. Whenever I face these roadblocks, this motto reminds me that the path to
success is not always a smooth one.

There're two kinds of people in this world: optimists and pessimists. Pessimists live
in a state of constant darkness and hopelessness. Optimists, on the other hand, live
life in a state of enthusiasm and hope, finding meaning in the new light of each day.

This motto nurtures my soul by helping me maintain an outlook on life that is

optimistic and helpful, rather than one that is cynical and bleak.
