ADVERB
Adverbs
• Adverbs are one of the four major
word classes, along with nouns, verbs
and adjectives.
• Adverbs describe how an action
happen.
Example:
He eats slowly. (How he eat?)

The baby sleeps quietly (How the baby sleep?)


How we identify adverb?
• We can identify adverbs through asking these
questions.
• How
• When
• Where
• To what Extent
• Why
Lets look at how these adverbs modify the verb flew

1. The eagle flew quietly. (how)


2. Yesterday, the eagle flew.(when)
3. The eagle flew here. (where)
4. The eagle flew because it needed food.(why)
Adverbs:
• Adverbs have many different
meanings and functions.
• They are especially important
for indicating the time,
manner, place, degree and
frequency of something.
Adverbs:
time I never get up early at the weekends.
