SPECIALIZED JOB PROCEDURE: Manual SLAM and Kickout Permission Levels and Training Flow
Manual SLAM - Teach steps 1-22 only and record modules 28229 & 43142.
Auto-Check Weight (ACW) Definition- - Shipments are kicked out because the system has identified that the
weight of the package does not match the expected weight. For this reason, the ACW process requires operators
to weigh each item individually. Following the kickout process allows the kickout operator to inspect each item to
ensure that we are shipping the customer the correct item(s). It is critical that operators closely inspect items and
weigh each item, working to identify and correct the cause of the weight difference prior to shipping. When an
item’s weight falls outside normal tolerance levels and an operator attempts to override the weight, the package
will require Escalation processing to verify that the correct item is being shipped.
ACW Training Flow- All trainees will start with beginner level permissions and only progress to more advanced
user levels after working in the process and being recommended by their trainer to advance.
ACW Kickout Beginner- Teach this entire document and record modules 28229 and 43141. An associate training
in ACW kickout must initially work with another EXPERT level ACW trainer for a minimum of four shifts. The
trainer must be available to help coach correct process and decisions during training and process kickouts that the
beginner user cannot process. Beginner level users are blocked from being able to override items with large
weight discrepancies, allowing them to process roughly 50% of Auto-Check Weight kickouts. The shipments that
they are unable to process should be escalated to an Expert operator.
ACW Kickout Intermediate- After associates complete a minimum of four shifts of training, and have the
recommendation from their trainer they can receive Intermediate level kickout training (module 35155).
Intermediate level users are able to override items with higher weight discrepancies than beginner level users,
allowing them to process roughly 85% of Auto-Check Weight kickouts. They are however blocked from being able
to process items with very large weight discrepancies. The shipments that they are unable to process must be
escalated to an Expert operator.
ACW Kickout Expert- Each site is limited to have a maximum 33% of their KO operators with Expert level
permissions. This permission is considered to be a Power tool as Expert permissions give associates the ability to
override 95% of items out of weight tolerance. It is critical that associates with expert permissions take the
necessary time researching items with high weight discrepancies to ensure they are correct prior to shipping. This
additional processing ability creates higher risk of sending incorrect items and thus requires user to have
additional training (module 17731).
ACW Kickout Admin- Each site is limited to have a maximum of 10-15% of their KO operators with Admin level
permissions. Users will need Admin level permissions to process any package that is 'Custom Box' (the second step
of KO processing is to scan the box barcode). Only those with Admin permissions will be allowed to select the
'Custom Box' prompt and requires users to complete the additional training (module 66270).
Escalation Tool- Items that differ in weight, actual versus expected, beyond a set threshold require secondary
processing. The item will be determined to require escalation by using the standardized difference between the
item’s actual weight and expected weight, divided by the item’s historical weight standard deviation. These items
