3 What Is Sheet Mask?
Sheet mask is a serum-soaked cloth sheet that has holes for your eyes,
nose, and mouth. A sheet mask is like a pack of serum. Sheet masks are
infused with hydrating and active ingredients, which will allow your
skin to absorb moisture and actives better. The sheet prevents the water
and the serum from evaporating into the air, making them more
effective.

Equipment: Weighing balance, Pycnometer (Gravity Bottle), Serum Sample, Distilled Water
Procedure:

 Weigh the empty Gravity Bottle and record it.

 Fill the gravity bottle with distilled water to the calibration mark, weigh and record it.

 Empty the gravity bottle.

 Again, fill the gravity bottle with the serum sample to the calibration mark, weigh and record it.

 Calculate the mass and specific gravity by the recorded measures.

Equipment: Oswald viscometer, stand, measuring cylinder, beaker, serum sample

Procedure:
 Fill the oswald viscometer with distilled water through arm 1 till it reaches to the mark 2 as shown in figure. Now pull
the water to the mark 4 by sucking or blowing.

 The upper meniscus of the water should be aligned with the mark 4.

 Start the stop watch and measure the time, measurement terminates when the meniscus is completely aligned with
the mark 3 and stop the stop watch.

 Measure the time taken by the water to flow through the mark 3 to 4.

 Repeat the procedure with the serum sample and measure the time.

 Now calculate the viscosity by suitable formula.

Equation:
Ƞ2 = * Ƞ1

Determination Of Drug Content
16
Procedure:
 Preparation of the calibration curve:
 Weigh accurately 100 mg of salicylic acid and transfer it into 100 ml volumetric flask.

 Makeup the volume up to the mark with distilled water.

 From this solution take 10 ml, transfer it into 100 ml of volumetric flask and dilute it up to mark with distilled
water to make 100 microgram/ml.
 From this working standard solution pipette out 1ml, 3ml, 5ml, 7ml, 9ml of solution in 10 ml volumetric flask

and add 1 ml of 1% ferric chloride (FeCl3) solution and make up to the volume 10 ml with distilled water.

 Find absorbance of every sample at 540 nm.

 Prepare the calibration curve of Absorbance vs Concentration.

 Prepare the serum sample with different concentration, find the absorbance of these sample and determine
the concentration of samples.

 Equipment: Test tubes, Beaker, Petri dish, loop

 Procedure:
 Equally cut filter paper and anti-acne mask sheet was used
 Filter paper was dipped in the prepared solution for half an hour
 Nutrient agar plate was divided into two equal sections
 Nutrient broth culture of Propionibacterium acne was streaked on the surface of agar .
 Filter paper disk and mask sheet were placed gently on each section respectively.

22 Amount Of liquid Absorbed:

 Cut 9 dry fabrics into equal size of 2×2 cm.

 Weigh each dry fabrics on weighing machine.

 Dip these fabrics into different anti-acne serum samples.

 Allow these fabrics to remove excess liquid on sieve or 10 minutes.

 Now weigh these fabrics and measure the amount of liquid.

29 CONCLUSION
 In this study, many different samples were prepared for checking with main active
ingredient- Salicylic acid which act as an anti-bacterial, anti- inflammatory. during the
formulation process the quality, the appearance and stability of many samples were
affected by exposure of light, density, temperature, PH, viscosity, incompatibility of
active ingredient. Out of all sample, one sample found to be optimal. The parameters
for choosing the most desirable and optimized batch are higher viscosity, more
amount of liquid retention and lower PH. Based on the above parameters sample C1
can be considered as the desirable sample to be used in Anti-Acne face sheet mask.
A great achievement is that the stability, texture, appearance, viscosity, density of
these selected product was maintained for 40 days (one and half month). A more
realistic comparison could be made between our product and marketed product for
acne-prone skin. The subject base evaluation results give us the conclusion that our
product is equipotential to that of marketed product.
