Conclusion
■ Improvement area identified:
■ First impression.
■ Tool should look representative for our company.
■ Old soft markings removed. Hard marking highlighted.
■ Preservation
■ Tool should be sufficient preserved for storage or transport after all
maintenance. Make sure that preservation is dried, before:
■ strapping/cover areas
■ Transport tool outside (rain/dust)
■ Protectors to be used on threads. Use enough grease to cover the torque
shoulder.
■ Coating
■ Needs to be inspected on case by case basis. For long time storage any
coating damage, or lack of preservation might expose the tool for corrosion
and other detritions.
■ Tongue marks painted and preserved, before exposed areas corrode.

Conclusion
■ Most of the deviations found during our inspections, represent a minor
increase in resources to rectify during ongoing maintenance. Performing
rectification maintenance after initial scope is finished, increases the cost
time fold.
■ Some unwanted cost increase examples:
■ Rework may generate man hours for logistics, planning, WS personnel, ATE, etc.
■ Rework cost (doing same scope twice).
■ Coating cost – deterioration due to lack of preservation, or missing coating.
■ Deviations trigger extensive quality inspections, generating additional cost with 0
production value.
■ NCR handling cost.
■ Extra hours used on SRT
■ Lost revenue
■ At end of Course you can find example of inspection control form used
on previous project.
