Domain and

Range
What is Domain and Range?

The domain and range are the sets of

all the x-coordinates and all the y-
coordinates of a function.

Ordered Pairs
An ordered pair is a composition of the x coordinate (abscissa) and
the y coordinate (ordinate), having two values written in a fixed order
within parentheses. It helps to locate a point on the Cartesian plane
for better visual comprehension. The numeric values in an ordered
pair can be integers or fractions.
Example:

R = {(1, 2), (2, 2), (3, 3), (4, 3)}

Domain = the set of all x-coordinates = {1, 2, 3, 4}

Range = the set of all y-coordinates = {2, 3}

State the Domain and Range for the
following relation:

{(3,1),(-2,2),(0,1),(4,-1)}

Equation
The form ax 2 + bx + c = 0 is called standard form of a
quadratic equation.

f(x)=2x²+3x+4

In summary,
•The domain and range of a function is the set of all possible inputs and
outputs of a function respectively.

•An ordered pair is a composition of the x coordinate (abscissa) and the y

coordinate (ordinate).

•The form ax 2 + bx + c = 0 is called standard form of a quadratic

equation.
