 Knowledge of the standard contents of a hotel
guestroom. Due to the vast competition in the
industry and the advent of foreign hotel chains in
India, many innovative trends, contents, and
supplies are being introduced in hotels by the
owners.

In terms of content, furniture occupies a large
expanse of area in a guestroom. Hotels spend a
considerable amount on them as long term
investment. Indeed, if carefully selected, a piece of
furniture can have a long functional life. Factors to
be considered in selecting furniture have been
outlined.

The options available in terms of types of furniture
and materials used in their construction have been
discussed. Specifications based on ergonomics for
guestroom furniture are outlined. Furniture
arrangement has been given much attention as it is a
vital aspect functionally as well as aesthetically.
Further, important guestroom fixtures and fittings
have been explained.
