FINAL PORTFOLIO
MARTIN CORTEZ-RODRIGUEZ
PART 1:WHERE
YOU WANT TO BE
1.1. WHAT LEADERSHIP MEANS TO YOU
Reflecting on my week one still life photo, I'm happy
to report that all the items in the picture remain just
as important to me now as they were seven weeks ago.
The only change is how I perceive time. At the
beginning of the course, I felt I had very little time
to spare. However, this course has helped me enhance my
time management skills and shift my mindset regarding
both energy and time.
1.2.CORE VALUES
Community: I cherish the power of connecting and depending on others. Whether
it's family, friends, or work groups, these communities are crucial for success
in life.

Respect: Treating all people with respect is fundamental, regardless of our

differences in thoughts or lifestyles. Respect should never be compromised.

Equity: I value recognizing and addressing imbalances, acknowledging that we

don't all start from the same place. This is especially important in my work
life.

Humor: I appreciate humor's role in brightening our lives. It helps us cope

with imperfections, reminding us that we're all human.

Forgiveness: I believe in forgiveness as a path to growth and peace. Holding

grudges and resentment isn't my way; I'm always open to forgiving and moving
forward.
1.3. FUTURE VISION

The picture on the right embodies

my personal and professional
aspirations. It features the
Chandler Downtown Library, a place
I frequented as a child and now
work at. My vision is to one day
become the Library Manager for
this significant establishment
that shaped my education. I aim to
be part of a leadership team
dedicated to supporting our local
community.
PART 2:
WHERE YOU ARE
2.1. LPI ASSESSMENT

The LPI self-assessment provided valuable

insights into my strengths and weaknesses
regarding the five exemplary practices. I excel
in "enabling others to act" and "encouraging 51 | ████████████ Model the Way
the heart," which aligns with my focus on 43 | █████████ Inspire a Shared Vision
fostering collaboration and team spirit. 49 | ███████████ Challenge the Process
However, excelling in these areas may sometimes 56 | █████████████ Enable Others to Act
lead to micromanagement, a potential weakness. 52 | ███████████ Encourage the Heart
My lowest score was in "model the way,"
influenced by my upbringing and past
experiences.
2.2. LIMITING ASSUMPTIONS

My most significant limiting assumption is self-doubt, often holding me back from

pursuing my full potential.

If I can overcome this assumption of self-doubt,

I envision a future where pursuing a
master's degree is not only attainable
but also a stepping stone to greater
academic achievements. With self-assurance,
I can visualize myself reaching even higher
educational goals and unlocking my
full academic potential.
2.3. SOCIOGRAM

This graph highlights some of my

strengths, particularly the strong
connections I have with family, friends,
and colleagues. Even though the circle is
small, I'm proud that nearly all the
connections are strong. However, I
recognize a potential shortcoming: I have
limited professional connections, with
just one work-related connection. One of
my goals for the remainder of the year is
to expand and nurture more professional
relationships to support my career
aspirations.
3.4. WHAT MATTERS MOST TO YOU

ARE TO WHERE YOU WANT TO BE
3.1. COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

Three things needed to achieve my goals . . .

1. Keep Learning: Continuously improve my skills and knowledge

through courses and workshops.
2. Build Relationships: Network with people in my field for
valuable connections and opportunities.
3. Set Goals: Define clear career goals and make a plan to reach
them step by step.
3.2. COACHING RELATIONSHIPS
What have you found helpful about your coaching relationship in this class?

- I had a great time connecting and learning from both my peer coaches. This
experience pushed me out of my comfort zone and encouraged me to analyze not only
myself but also my coaches. We bonded, shared laughs, and brought out different
sides of ourselves throughout this journey. What I found most valuable was seeing
myself through their eyes and perspective. Both of them played a crucial role in
my success in this course and my growth as a leader.

What are some ways you can continue to use coaching to grow professionally?

- To continue growing professionally through coaching, I'll seek out mentors in my

field, set clear goals, maintain regular feedback channels, expand my network,
apply coaching insights to my work, and keep an open mindset for learning and new
perspectives.
3.3. ACTION PLAN
1. Keep Learning
Action: Complete my degree program, attend leadership trainings/
workshops.

2. Build Relationships
Action: Attend different networking events provided thought my organization.

3. Set Goals
Action: Establish a goal journal and actively commit to the use of it.

How will you monitor your progress?

- I intend to track my progress by holding myself accountable, which involves

both documenting and sharing my action plan with my manager at work. By putting
it into writing and discussing it, I'll ensure my commitment. Additionally,
I'll implement weekly self-check-ins and maintain an organized planner to keep
me on track with this action plan.

PART 5: OVERALL CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION
Working on this final portfolio has been an enlightening and eye-opening
journey. Initially, I faced challenges in deciding what to include, but
once I started, everything started falling into place naturally. Completing
this project has made me realize the significant growth I've experienced in
this course and the immense potential for further development in the
organizational leadership program. The course and its assignments have
equipped me with valuable skills to pursue any goal I set for myself. I
also want to highlight the exceptional coaching sessions, which marked my
first experience in real-time, face-to-face interactions with classmates.
The outcomes and connections formed during these sessions will forever be a
part of my educational journey.
