WHAT IS PATIENT EDUCATION?

• Patient education is defined as the process of influencing patient behavior and


producing the necessary changes in knowledge, attitudes, and abilities to
maintain or enhance health through the provision of information and patient
teaching. All healthcare professionals, especially those directly involved in the
patient's care, are responsible for educating patients, their relatives, at-home
cares, and communities.
