INTRODUCTION
Self-operating trash bin is an innovative and technologically advanced
version of traditional trash containers, with the ultimate aim of
motivating and encouraging individuals to properly dispose of their
garbage. It is equipped with various sensors, motors and connectivity
features , it is designed to enhance waste collection and recycling
processes, making them more efficient, user-friendly, and
environmentally sustainable for the school and community.

during the School year 2023-2024.
Significance of the Study

The Self-operating Trash Bin offers numerous benefits for campus waste
management, including improved cleanliness and health protection against
pests like flies, ants, and mice, and a touch-free option for disposing of
potentially contaminated goods, thereby promoting a healthier campus
environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Summary of Findings

In summary, the researchers continue to face challenges with certain

components in the development of a self-operating trash bin and are
actively seeking a solution using an Arduino Uno microcontroller, a
process demanding significant time and effort. This project incorporates
an ultrasonic distance sensor, which transmits input to the Arduino Uno
and outputs to the 16x2 LCD screen. The researchers aspire to encourage
proper garbage disposal by developing self-operating trash bins.
