Two Types of Wave

Parts of a wave
Describe the
following terms
Wave
is a disturbance in a medium
that carries energy without a
net movement of particles
Crest
A point on a wave is the
maximum value of upward
displacement within a cycle.
Trough
A point on a wave is the
maximum value of upward
displacement within a cycle.
Wavelength
The wavelength of a wave
describes how long the wave
is.
Amplitude
the maximum distance the
particles of the medium move
from their resting positions
when a wave passes through.
Period
Identify the terms
to be used to get
the same result as
shown in the
diagram
Unlock the following
terms.
1. Radio wave
2. Modulation
3. Frequency
4. Amplitude
5. Oscillation
Study the diagram
and explain how
radio waves are
propagated and
transmitted
Write down three
key concepts, two
important details,
and one question you
still have after the
lesson.
Answer the
following
questions.
1. Explain how radio waves are
generated, transmitted, and received in
television and radio communication. (3-
5 sentences)
2. List 3 practical applications of Radio
wave
RADIO WAVE
Radio wave acts as a carrier of
information-bearing signals encoded
directly on the wave by periodically
interupting its transmission or
impressed by a proscess called
modulation
Types of radio
modulation
AM - Amplitude Modulation
FM - Frequency modulation
Analog
Transmission
Both AM and FM are analog
transmission - they process sound into
continuously varying pattern of
electrical signals which resemble sound
waves
Digital
Transmission
Digital radio is the transmission and
reception of sound processed into
patterns of numbers, or "digits"
Uses of Radio
Waves
Various frequencies of radio waves are used for
television and FM and AM radio broadcasts,
military communications, mobile phones, ham
radio, wireless computer networks, and numerous
other communications applications.
