multimedia resources when orally
giving information, instructions,
making explanations, and
narrating events in personal or
factual recounts.
TYPES OF TEXTS
RECOUNT

experiences in a chronological order. It
provides a detailed account of what
happened, often describing the sequence
of events in a straightforward manner.
EXAMPLES
journal letter
diary log
newspaper article timeline
PROCEDURAL

communication that provides step-by-
step instructions or guidance on how to
perform a particular task or process
EXPLANATORY

process
EXPLANATORY
El Niño is a weather phenomenon that happens in the
Pacific Ocean. Normally, the wind blows from east to west,
pushing warm water towards Asia. However, during El Niño,
these winds weaken, and the warm water stays in the central
and eastern Pacific.
This change in ocean temperature affects weather
worldwide. Places may experience more rain or drought than
usual. It can also lead to extreme events like floods, storms, or
heatwaves.
In simple terms, El Niño is like a weather switch that can
bring unusual and sometimes extreme conditions, impacting
how we experience seasons.
EXPLANATOR
The primary purpose of explanatory
texts is to enhanceY the reader's or
listener's understanding by presenting
in-depth insights, background
information, and relevant details.
DESCRIPTIVE
vividly portray and convey the
characteristics, details, and sensory
experiences of a person, place, object, or
event.
DESCRIPTIVE
The primary goal of descriptive texts is
to create a mental image for the reader
or listener, allowing them to visualize
and emotionally connect with the
subject being described.
EXAMPLE
Her gray hair and the wrinkles etched in her eyes tells
thousand stories of sunrise and sunset, while her hands bears
crinkles of both sorrowful and joyful moments that caress not
just one, two, but several lives. She was an epitome of timeless
beauty – with a heart of gold; strong like a steel, soft like a
mallow. The curve on her back carries the imprints of the
journey she endures as she rows day by day. Her smile never
fails to touch my soul… what a wonderful form of blessing she
was.

MULTIMEDIA
MULTIMEDIA
a representation of information in an
attractive and interactive manner
with the use of a combination of text,
audio, video, graphics and animation.
MULTIMEDIA
It is a sequential or simultaneous use of
a variety of media formats (people, text,
visual, motion, audio, and manipulative)
in a given presentation or self-study.
Advantages
of Multimedia
1. TEXT MATERIALS
important components used in written
explanation to deliver information in
many multimedia applications. They are
characters used to create words,
sentences, and paragraphs.
2. Graphics/Photographs

digital representations of non-text

information such as a drawing, chart, or
photograph.
3. SOUND/AUDIO
any spoken explanation that
stimulates imagination and can be
added and combined with all types of
media
4. Video Presentations
clips or full videos that show
information. They are collection of
moving pictures combined with audio
files.
5. Forms of Animation
It is a series of graphics that create
an illusion of motion to display pieces
of information with moving or still
images and easily transferable.
Basic Types of Multimedia
1. User-friendly

It doesn’t take much energy out

of the user in the sense that you
can sit and watch the
presentation, read the text, and
hear the audio.
2. Multisensorial

It uses a lot of the user’s senses

while making use of multimedia.
3. Integrated and Interactive

All the different mediums are

integrated through the digitization
process. Interactivity is heightened
by the possibility of easy feedback.
3. Integrated and Interactive

4. Flexible

Being digital, this media can easily

be changed to fit different
situations and audiences.
5. Used for a wide variety
of audiences.

It can be used by various

audiences ranging from one
person to a whole group.
Disadvantages
of Multimedia
1. Information overload
Because it is so easy to use, it can
contain too much information at
once.
2. It takes time to compile.
Even though it is flexible, it takes
time to put the original draft
together.
3. It can be expensive.
Multimedia makes use of a wide
range of resources, which can cost
you a large amount of money.
4. Too much makes it impractical.

Large files like video and audio need

large storage. Adding too much can
mean that you have to use a
computer with huge storage capacity
to store the files.
