Introduction
 Renovation is also called remodeling.
 It is the process of improving a broken, damaged, or outdated
structure.
 Renovations are typically either commercial or residential.
 Additionally, renovation can refer to making something new, or
bringing something back to life and can apply in social contexts.
 For example, a community can be renovated if it is strengthened
and revived.
Objectives
 To upgrade the Building function.
 To increase the efficiency of the structure.
 Renovation is necessary to create a new appearance and for
improved aesthetics, comfort, or functionality of a place.
 Renovation construction is employed for maintaining the
long-term performance of buildings.
 For the occupants, the building users, renovation contributes
to the acceptable levels of convenience and quality of the
buildings.
 To fix a safety issue, Electrical problems, roof leaks, or a crack
in the structure are some problems that must be taken care.
Reasons
 Many people renovate homes to create a new
appearance.
 Builders may renovate homes to enhance the
home’s value as a stable source of income.
 Homeowners often renovate their homes to
increase the re-sale value and to turn a profit when
selling.
 Homeowners may also want to add renovations that
make their home more energy efficient, green or
sustainable.
Renovation Process
The renovation process can usually be broken down into several
processes:-
Planning
Demolition
Rebuilding
• Finishes
Planning :
It is the process of thinking regarding the activities required to
achieve a desired goal.
Demolition:
It is the science and engineering in safely and efficiently
tearing down of buildings and other artificial structures.
Renovation Process

Rebuilding :
It is the process in which plastering, tilling and
repairing work of the structure is done.
Finishes :
In this process painting, placing of doors and
windows and cleaning is done

 It can be more relaxing to enjoy your
home.
 It can increase your home‘s value.
 You can reduce the cost of your utilities.
 Improve energy efficiency of home.
 Increase strength of the structure.
 It enhances the appearance of the
building.
Details of work carried out
Renovation :
 In this , firstly demolition of damaged walls and old plaster
were done.
 Surface preparation for plastering is done.
 New plaster 15 mm thick in size is provided.
 Filling of gaps, cracks, pores and joints are done.
Details of work carried out
Tilling work :
 Breaking and removing of old tiles is
done.
 New Verified tiles were layed and placed
on the walls (Bathroom and water closet
area).

Conclusion
• I learned that the civil engineer is capable of lot of work .
• Such as supervision, implementation, the calculation of
quantities and design etc.
