BRIEF HISTORY OF INQABA BIOTEC WEST AFRICA

● IBWA was incorporated in Ibadan in 2014.
● The following year IBWA opened its doors for
business in Ibadan (2015) at the bioscience unit of
IITA.
● IBWA’S aim is to facilitate life science by providing
genomic products and services to researchers across
west and central africa.
● In 2018, IBWA moved to her own premises located
just opposite the IITA bus stop.

Molecular biology is the branch of biology that studies interaction at the
cellular level. Molecules studied include nucleic acid and proteins.

Carrying out Molecular biology processes and studies requires some tools
and machines some of which include:

Service
Installation (or setup) is the act of making an equipment/machine
ready for use. It includes assembling/coupling of parts/accessories
of the equipment to be installed
● Visual inspection
● Voltage check
● Functional check

Operational qualification deals with the training of client after

installation of instrument.

Engineering Services
Troubleshooting & Repair; is a systematic and analytical
process of identifying, diagnosing problems or issues within
a machine. It involves the application of technical
knowledge to understand the root causes of issues, aiming
to restore the system to its normal or expected functionality.

Repair; is the act of restoring an equipment back to its good

working condition after a damage.

Some important lessons learned

● An Engineer is someone who can identify a problem in a machine
and provide solution for it repair.
● An engineer must have operational knowledge of all equipments
he/she is working on
● Regular Standups are required for information flow
● Effective communication with customers to avoid further problems
and waste of resources and time.
● If you can’t fix a problem, don’t complicate the matter
● Use international recognizable equipments.
● Be a world class engineer(get certified before you may even require
the certification.

CONCLUSION

My IT at IBWA was both enriching and transforming.

During my time here, I was privileged to work with world
class engineers and to meet other amazing people. I
learnt that there is more to engineering beyond the
classroom. I had access to professional knowledge from
some of the top equipment manufacturers. I am grateful
for the privilege to unlearn, learn and relearn.
