NEW AGE VENDING MACHINE

Research on types, working principle, components of vending machines.

INTRODUCTION
● Vending machine is a business automated piece of equipment which provides vending
operations without assistance from people.
● The concept of automation is so versatile that it can bring radical development in
almost every field. New beverages are increasing day by day in the market, so this
project provides the method of preparation of soft drinks, the different juices and milk
shake with the different mode.
● It is controlled through a control system which provides a main module, a payment
system, a user interface system, a product extraction system and a communication
system.
● For smart vending services, the vending machines are combined with deep learning
and machine learning technologies and making the payment/inventory system
completely online by making a webapp similar to a e-commerce website.
Types Of Vending Machine
Classification of vending machines is dependent on the size of the vending machine and whether they
are focused on the product or the service.

Classification based on size:

● Vending Machines can vary in size, as well as on the capacity of the total number of items that
can be displayed for sale at once.
● A bigger vending machine would reduce the cost of refilling it too often, provided the machine is
making sufficient sales to cover the cost of a larger-sized investment.
● If we are not sure about the quantity or volume of purchase then placing more small or average-
sized machines might be a wiser, more profitable option according to some researches.
● According to the size of vending machine, we can also decide whether the vending machine
should be wall mounted (if the vending machine is small), standing or movable (with the help of
wheels and appliance casters)

Currently in the market, there are various kinds of vending machine. For example, vending machines for
packed products, premix and hot water mixing, for ice-creams, for producing fresh fruit juice, for liquid
vending etc.
Working Principle of Model
ALGORITHM

Step 1 :Select any variety of milkshake or we can also choose just

pasteurised milk.

Step 2 :Accept money, money acceptor machine will sense & generate
the pulses according to the size of note or in case of online payment,
the app or software will order machine to start making milkshake.

Step 3 :The PAC(Programmable Automation Controller) will

recognize the pulse and correspondingly will control the amount of
material by using a flow sensor, a solenoid valve, a pump that causes
juice or milkshake.

Step 4 :All items will get mixed using stirring motor in mixing
container.

Step 5 :The solenoid valve will open to fill the glass.

Components Required for Model
Sensors
Knightsbridge IP44 180° Mini PIR Sensor OS0014
This is one of the best PIR sensors with 180° field of detection and 12m range @ 2.4m installation height.
By using this sensor we can greatly reduce operating costs. This sensor allows some of the machine
function to only works when a person is present in front of the sensor. So, we can reduce power
consumption by using this sensor.

LM35 Temperature Sensor

LM35 is a precision-integrated circuit temperature device with an output voltage linearly proportional to
the Centigrade temperature which does not require external calibration.

ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module (to access vending machine from a distance)

The ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module is a self-contained SOC with integrated TCP/IP protocol stack that can give
any microcontroller access to your Wi-Fi network. The ESP8266 is capable of either hosting an application
or offloading all Wi-Fi networking functions from another application processor.
Monitoring Setup
The Monitoring system basically has the following components:
1. Proximity Sensors: These are used to monitor product availability and output is used to
determine LED status.

2. LED Indicator Lights: Two LEDs are required, red and orange, to indicate product availability
status. The LED selected for the project are OC451-01 Super Bright Orange and RC451-06 Super
Bright Red.

3. Buzzer: A Buzzer is required to sound as per machine status. The buzzer selected for this paper is
HPE-30P Piezo buzzer. HPE30P Piezo buffer has a wide operating voltage range and low power
consumption. It produces pulsed tone of sound, very clear and well penetrating.
Strengths of Vending Machines:
● Vending machines are becoming very popular these days because of the convenience
they offer.
● According to a research in the Czech Republic, 36% of the farmers expect more increase
in sales, 48% expect the stagnation and only 16% expect the decrease, after a 20%
increase in sales for the first months after using vending machines for selling milk.
● This form of sale became a profitable option for selling milk for many farms in the Czech
Republic (or at least more advantageous) – especially for the small farms with the
problematic collection of the milk to the dairies.

Weaknesses of Vending Machines:

● These vending machines are prone to hacking by wise hackers. This leads to theft of
items and access to consumer banking transactions.
● Vending Machines are not very popular in India. So, milk sellers may not like the idea of
selling milk through vending machines.
