PROTECTION WARFIGHTING FUNCTIONS


The protection warfighting function is the related tasks and systems that preserve
the force so the commander can apply maximum Armypower. Preserving the force includes
protecting personnel(combatants and noncombatants), physical assets, and information of the
Philippines and other military and civilian partners.

PROTECTION IN COMBINED ARMS


It intends to preserve the force so that the commanders of CATms can apply
maximum combat power at a decisive point in order to accomplish the mission.(PAM3-

ADRP 3-37 DEFINITION


It is the preservation of the effectiveness and survivability of mission-related military
and nonmilitary personnel, equipment, facilities, information, and infrastructure deployed or
located within or outside the boundaries of a given operational area.

ENGINEER SURVIVABILITY

The capability to protect the force by altering the physical


environment to provide or improve cover, concealment, and
camouflage. Engineer Survivability can be done through construction of
fighting positions, protective positions, hardened facilities, camouflage
and concealment.

Elements of Protection
Military Police

Military Police enforces military law and order, provide security, and
custodial management in support to mission accomplishment. MP enforces
military law and order, post rules and regulations, and maintains discipline
inside army posts.

MPs provide route and convoy security in order to facilitate the


movement of troop sand supply. Lastly, MPs provides custodial management to
POWs, military detainees, and civilian internees. SURVIVABILITY

K9
Provides protection for the force through the conduct of combat
tracking operations, explosive detection operations, and scout patrol
operations. In addition, K9 can also be utilized in operations other than war
particularly in search, rescue, and retrieval operations during HADR.

CBRN OPERATIONS

It is the employment of capabilities that assess, protect


against, and mitigate the entire range of chemical, biological,
radiological, and nuclear incidents to enable freedom of
action.

CBRN DECONTAMINATION

Decontamination is the process of absorbing, destroying,


neutralizing, making harmless, or removing chemical and
biological agents or removing radioactive material that is
around or clinging to a person, object, or area in order to
make it safe

CBRN RECON & SURVEILLANCE

It is a mission undertaken to obtain information by


observation, or other detection methods, about the
activities, behavior, and resources of a CBRN treats and
hazards, an enemy or potential enemy, or about the
meteorological, hydrographic, or geographic
characteristics of a particular area of CBRN
contamination.

EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL (EOD)

The mission of EOD is to eliminate or reduce the effects of explosive ordnance


(EO) hazards to protect combat power.

EOD units are specifically trained in the render-safe procedures(RSP)/ disposal


of EO/IEDs, including those containing CBRN materials. While other forces
may have the ability to destroy UXO by detonation, they are not properly
equipped, trained, or authorized to perform RSP or other disposal procedures.
