The Inseparable
Globalization and
Communication
There is no world without communication and consideration does not happen without the
world to utilize or even establish its existence. Simply put, we communicate because we need
to connect to one another and to reach the farthest stretch our connection can get.

With people’s participation worldwide, communication changes its trend, form and purpose.
Such participation can be linked to the rapidly progressing world that we experience.
TREND
Today the trend of communication has become closely
associated with fashion and at times even becomes a craze.

FORM
The most common form of communication is the digital form.

PURPOSE
The digital platforms have provided avenues for marketing, art
exhibit, production, research and personal glamour.
GLOBALIZATION
Globalization is both a phenomenon and an experiential process of
uniting the world into one by breaking physical and social boundaries.

• An Inevitable Phenomenon. It is considered a happening that

man has difficulty or no control at all.

• An Experiential Process. As we experience connection with

people, we somehow change in our beliefs and in our emotions.
impact of
globalization
GEOGRAPHICAL
(BORDERLESS LAND)
We speak of the absence of restriction of boundaries among nations in
terms of communication and connection. However, the problems that
hinder geographical connection include time differences and virtual
interactions.
Social (No Man Is an
Island on the Web)
In this virtual world, a person cannot be alone; he is
always with others as long the needed technology is
present. In socializing with others, Ingram (2018)
identified two important problems, the
awareness of body language and the awareness of
speech.
Cultural (The Giant Get
the A’s)
Since the global society has brought change to the world, “Cultural
values, habits, traditions, conventions and customs change as well.”

Dissolution of A Culture. One very common problem in globalization

is that one culture can be so receptive with all the influences of the
prominent cultures that it will allow its very own to fade.
Economic (Everybody is both an
entrepreneur and a consumer)
It is apparent that advertisements have become widespread without the
control of the government. There is no exclusivity as to the consumers
and sellers. Young and new entrepreneurs have been sprouting which lead
to an increasing consumerism and competition has also increased
drastically alongside free trade. Economic Issues: Profit Issue and

Globalization vs Technology and Human
Relations vs Communication:The Paradox

I talk, I belong. I stay quiet, I am left alone. So I stay with the group,
but I can only hear my words. So here I am struggling to wiggle out
from my world of becoming to my world of being.
Globalization: A Balance
between Human Relations
and Technology Use
• There can be no connectedness in the global world without
communication and this is what Mathhews and Thakkar
(2012) consider as the challenge in the society.

Globalization: A • There is a need to manage communication very carefully

including those that involve privacy, security, and ethical
Balance between standards (Ingram, 2000).

Human Relations and

Technology Use • Man is in control when he allows himself to be guided by
the reality of the separation of the virtual from the real
world which can be achieved by the management of
communication.

• Technology is the driving force of globalization.

1) The widespread of the internet has given us
both intentional and
unintentional information.

2) Our engagement on the web has produced

positive and negative effects in the society. Because
of its compelling power, we can be anybody on the
internet.

3) The use of internet has made us compromise

relationships.
WHAT DOES THE
GLOBAL SOCIETY
LACKS?
According to Sherry Turkle, there is a need
to develop a self-aware relationship with
technology. We should not allow technology
to change the real meaning of
communication, nor the culture of man.
