1.1 What are the categories of nutrients
that a balanced diet should contain?
◦ A balanced diet contains nutrients
such as carbohydrates, lipids,
proteins, vitamins, mineral salts, fibre
and water, which provide us energy,
materials for growth and
development, vital elements and
compounds to maintain the
chemical reactions in our cells,
safety, as well as repairing
structures.

3.1 Do I follow a balanced diet?
 My diet contains all the essential nutrients in the correct amounts to
maintain health apart from several amounts in several nutrients. These
nutrients are red meat and beans, which are not found quite frequently
in my weekly diet.
3.2 And…is this a Mediterranean diet?
 According to the nutrients that the Mediterranean diet contains, the
diet I follow is quite similar to this one. The only thing that my diet
doesn’t follow is the amount of meat which the Mediterranean diet
contains, as I consume proteins and meat almost every day.
3.3 What would I change on my diet?
 The diet I follow right now is mostly based on my everyday needs and
activities so the only thing I’d like to change on it is the amount of red
meat and beans I consume.

 These two nutrients are important to stay healthy and respond to our
everyday routine, so I’d like to raise their quantity in my weekly diet.
