Carding machine
 INTRODUCTION:
1. card is the heart of spinning mill.
2. Well carded is a half spun.
3. The main object of the process is to individualize the fibers and
convert the fibers into a strand called the sliver.
4. Carding is one of the most important operations in the spinning
process, as it directly determines the final features of the yarns.
 Carding definition:
• Carding may defined as:

the reduction of entangled mass of fibers to filmy web

by working between two closely spaced, relatively
moving surface clothed with sharp wire points.
 The purposes or objectives of carding :
• The carding is the first machine in the spinning preparation that delivers a
sliver.
• The main objectives of the card are:
1. To open the flocks into individual fibers.
2. Cleaning and elimination of impurities.
3. Reduction of neps.
4. Elimination of short fibers.
5. Fiber blending.
6. Fiber orientation.
7. Sliver formation.
 Different parts and materials flow
through carding machine:
1. Feeder Hopper
2.Linker in Cylinder
3.Drum / Cylinder
4.Revolving Slates
5. Brushing Rollers
6.Doffer
7. Drawing Unit
8.Trumpet Guide
9.Grid Roller
10.Sliver Cane
There are two types of feeding in the cards:

1.Feeding material in the form of scutcher lap.

2.Flock feed system (flocks are transported pneumatically)
