Occupational Health and Safety Procedures OBJECTIVES
• Discuss and enumerate the
Occupational Health and Safety Procedures in computer disassembly and assembly; • Identify the steps in computer assembly and disassembly; and • Assemble computer hardware in accordance with established procedures and system requirements. REVIEW
Did you recognize all the parts of the
computer?
Do you still remember the function of
those computer parts? LESSON
Occupational Health and Safety
(OHS) Procedures LESSON
In this lesson, you will familiarize yourself
on the Computer Assembly Procedure as well as the OHSP and BIOS. These topics will give you a broad knowledge on how the parts communicate with each other that completes the whole system. With all the necessary safety precautions. LESSON
Occupational safety and health (OSH)
- is a planned system of working to
prevent illness and injury where you work by recognizing and identifying hazards and risks. LESSON
There are three steps to manage health
and safety at work:
(1.) Spot the Hazard (Hazard
Identification), (2.) Assess the Risk (Risk Assessment) and (3.) Make the Changes (Risk Control). LESSON
1. Spot the Hazard A hazard is anything
that could hurt you or someone else.
2. Assess the Risk Assessing the risk
means working out how likely it is that a hazard will harm someone and how serious the harm could be. LESSON
3. Make the Changes It is your employer's
responsibility to fix hazards. Sometimes you may be able to fix simple hazards yourself, as long as you don't put yourself or others at risk. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
1. Always ground or discharge
yourself before touching any part of the computer. LESSON
How to ground yourself?
1. Set up your workspace in an area without rugs or carpet. 2. Keep pets away from your workspace. 3. Work in an environment with humidity levels LESSON
4. Touch a grounded object
before starting work on your computer or electronic device. LESSON
5. Wear an anti-static strap or
wristband. LESSON
6. Stand on an anti-static mat
when working on your device. LESSON
7. Verify your computer is
unplugged or turned off before working on its components. LESSON
8. Handle all components by
their edges when installing and removing them from your machine. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
2. Do not work alone so that there
is someone who can take care of you in case of accident or emergency. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
3. Be careful with the tools that
may cause short circuit. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
4. Always pull the cable connector
on the handle and not hold on the cable itself. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
5. Use only rubber shoes when
standing on the ground or in a concrete floor. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
6. Make sure that the pins are
properly aligned when connecting a cable connector. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
7. Always power off and unplug the
computer before working on it. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
8. Take away any liquid such as
mineral water or soft drinks near your working area or near computers. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
9. Contingency measures during
workplace accidents, fire, and other emergencies are recognized. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
10. Personal protective equipment
is correctly used in accordance with organization procedures and practice. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
11. Hazard/risks in the workplace
and their corresponding indicators are identified to minimize or eliminate risk to co‐workers, workplace, and environment. LESSON
Safety Precautions when working:
12. Take necessary precautions to
protect the component of the computer from damaged caused by Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). LESSON
