Introduction

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in Abaqus is used to simulate the fatigue

behaviour of glass fibre reinforced concrete (GFRC) slabs.
Understanding this behavior helps optimize design for enhanced
durability and reliability in real-world applications.
• Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the fatigue behavior
of GFRC slabs using FEA in Abaqus, aiming to understand how these
materials respond to cyclic loading over time.
Introduction
• Glass fibres are produced by melting silica-based raw materials at high
temperatures and extruding the molten glass through fine nozzles to form thin
strands. These fibres are then added to concrete to reinforce the material,
improving its tensile strength, reducing cracking, and enhancing durability.
• Advantages of Glass Fibre Rebar:
• Corrosion resistance
• Lightweight
• Non-conductive
• Design flexibility
• Thermal insulation
Introduction
• To make glass fibre-reinforced concrete: Mix cement, sand, aggregate,
and water and place glass fibre-reinforced rebar in the formwork for
additional reinforcement; pour and compact the concrete mix; let it
cure; finish the surface. The glass fibres enhance tensile strength, and
the reinforced rebar provides structural support. This process creates
a durable concrete that resists cracking and improves overall strength
