What is Cheerdance?
Cheerdance, sometimes referred to as
cheerleading is a team physical activity. Using
organize routine for the purpose of motivating a
sports team, entertaining an audience or
competition. Cheerdance performances usually
take a few minutes and is always done by
multiple.

A team activity in which elements
of dance and acrobatics are combined with
shouted slogans in order to entertain
spectators at sporting events and to
encourage louder and more enthusiastic
cheering.
CHEERDANCE HISTORY
Cheerleading began in the mid-19th
century in Great Britain but later moved
to the United States shortly after its
creation. Cheerleading has become a
staple of sporting events throughout the
country being the most popular in
collegiate athletics as well as throughout
youth sports leagues.
CHEERDANCE HISTORY IN THE PHILIPPINES
Cheerleading in the Philippines officially
emerged in 1993 when the Cheerleading
Philippines Federation (CPF) was officially
founded. The CPF is the “is the national
confederation of Cheerleading organizations. It
is the national governing body of Cheerleading
and Cheer Dance in the country.
ORIGIN OF CHEERDANCE
The origins of Cheerdance are definitely to be found in
American cheerleading, which goes back to the 19 th
century and was originally all-male, until women were
allowed to come in starting in the 1920s. Today,
cheerleading groups are overwhelmingly female. In the
1980s at Princeton University, Thomas Peebles together
with other students supported a local American football
team with cheers. In 1884, he moved to the University of
Minnesota, where he quickly popularized the idea of
cheering on football players.
