What are these photos below?

El-Nino La-Nina
EL- NINO
El Niño is known as warm phase.
is an abnormal and lengthy warming in the eastern part of
the Pacific Ocean. This natural phenomenon occurs at
irregular intervals of two to seven years and last for nine
months or two years at most.
LA-NINA
is sometimes referred to as the cold phase
 La Niña episodes represent periods of below average sea
surface temperatures across the east-central Equatorial
Pacific Global climate.
ACTIVITY 1: GETTING READY!!

Direction: Group yourself into 2, write your name

in a ¼ sheet of paper and gave it to your partner.
Every question that’ll be flash write your answer in
any sheet of paper, and let your partner see your
answer in every question, to tally the correct answer
that you’ve got, and vice versa.

8. Name 3 things that can be reused.

Paper, plastic, and cans

9. Give two examples on how to
conserve electricity.
• Turn off appliances when not in use.
• Clean up fluorescent lamp or bulbs
• Use Solar bulbs

8/10 - you are very much
aware of the events that are
happening in the
environment.
6/10- this is the beginning
for you to learn more about
climate change.
Activity 2:
Direction: The students within their group will
Illustrate the effect of climate change through a
slogan. And explain on how to raise awareness
about the effect and causes of climate change to
the people and our earth.
Activity 3:LET ME SPEAK!

Direction: Write a reflection on

any the following images (you
may also select only one image
for reflection). Write your answer
on a separate sheet of paper.
How do green gases
affect climate change?

Prepared by: Jhea May C. Jimenez

Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be
able to:

a. discuss how greenhouse gases trap heat.

Activity 2: It’s Getting Hot in Here

Direction: Within your group, study the given

material, read and understand the given situation,
and answer the following guide questions.
How do Green House Gases trap heat?
• Greenhouse gases absorb
heat, preventing them from flowing
out of the earth. Naturally,
greenhouse gases play an
important role in keeping the earth
warm. The Earth would be very
cold if there were no greenhouse
gases that absorb heat.
• Global temperature
increases when the amount of
greenhouse gases in the
A greenhouse gas is an
atmospheric gaseous substance
that can sufficiently absorb
infrared radiation. Greenhouse
gases got their name from the
typical greenhouse used during
plant cultivation.
 Ozone (O3) is a highly reactive gas
composed of three oxygen atoms. It is
both a natural and a man-made
product that occurs in the Earth's
upper atmosphere.

 Ozone is formed in the atmosphere

through chemical reactions between
pollutants emitted from vehicles,
factories and other industrial sources,
fossil fuels, combustion, consumer
products, evaporation of paints, and
many other sources.

ACTIVITY 3: WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Direction: Read the given statements about greenhouse effect

and global warming. Make your decision whether you
AGREE or DISAGREE to each statement. Write your answer
on a separate sheet of paper.
__________1. Some greenhouse gases are
naturally present in the Earth’s atmosphere.
__________2. All of the radiation from
the Sun is absorbed by the Earth.
__________3. Plants and animals are
already changing their behavior because
of
climate change.
__________4. Without the greenhouse
effect the Earth would be cold.
__________5. The trade winds are
weaker during an El Niño event.
6. El Niño is known as warm phase.
This natural phenomenon occurs at
irregular intervals of two to seven
years and last for 9 months or 20
years at most
7. La Nina is sometimes referred to
as the cold phase

of below average sea surface
temperatures across the east-central

8. Methane are gases released in
landfills
9. The Earth is tilted 23.5 %
10. Suns heat bounces off to the
earths surface, and some of it bounce
back or is reflected back to the
space.
Activity 4: Comic Strip

Direction: Make a comic strip about

thecauses of extreme heat and extreme
cold temperature brought by the
climate to the lives and health of all
human beings. To be passed tomorrow

Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will
be able to.
a. express the relationship a between
carbon dioxide and Earth’s temperature.
Activity 4: Am I a Climate Hero or a
Climate Culprit?
Direction: The teacher will read situations, and the
students will put 1 point if they always do it, 3
points if sometimes and 5 points if never. Tally
your scores!!
20-50 - You’re a Green Queen/King and a
globally aware consumer! Keep up the
good work.
50-80 - You’ve made a start but there are
more you can do to reduce your ecological
footprint.
80-110– You have a long way to go; it is
best to start now.
Activity 5: CO2 is the reason!!

Direction: Study the given material within your

group and answer the following guide questions
below.
Activity 6: What is the Carbon cycle?

Direction: Draw the carbon cycle and give

descriptions to each steps of the cycle
Why do we have to control the release
of carbon dioxide to the environment,
and what is the effect of high amount
of carbon dioxide present in the
environment to human health?
Is there a possibility to restore back the
damages of climate change in our
earth, how can we do that?
