Material Master Data - Views

On this data screen, you enter data that is also used by other user departments like Material
Basic Data Group . Unit of Measurements , Drawing no. etc.,

Classes allow you to classify materials with the same characteristics. A material can be
Classification assigned to one or more classes. Classification data is valid for the whole company.
Valuation and costing/price calculation information. Examples: Standard price, past and future
Accounting price, and current valuation.

Materials planning
Information for material requirements planning (MRP) and consumption-based
and planning/inventory control. Examples: Safety stock level, planned delivery time, and
control reorder level for a material.

Data provided by Purchasing for a material. Examples: Purchasing group (group of buyers)
Purchasing responsible for a material, over- and under delivery tolerances, and the order unit.
Engineering and design data on a material. Examples: CAD drawings, basic dimensions, and
Engineering design specifications.
Information relating to the storage/warehousing of a material. Examples: unit of issue, storage
Storage conditions, and packaging dimensions.
Information for predicting material requirements. Examples: How the material is procured,
Forecasting forecasting period, and past consumption/usage.

Sales and Information for sales orders and pricing. Examples: Sales price, minimum order quantity, and
distribution the name of the sales department responsible for a certain material.

Quality Management can be used to guide purchasing and inventory management activities.
Quality For the main part, it consists of releasing supply relationships, source and receiving
Management inspections, managing stocks during quality inspections, and quality documents.

Vendor Master Data

The vendor master database contains information about the
vendors that supply an enterprise.

This information is stored in individual vendor master records.

A vendor master record contains the vendor’s name and

address, as well as data such as:

The currency used for ordering from the vendor.

Terms of payment.

Names of important contact persons ( sales staff ).

The Vendor master record also contains accounting information,

such as the relevant control account ( reconciliation account ) in
the general ledger.

Therefore, the vendor master record is maintained by both

Accounting and Purchasing.
