SAMPLE PROBLEM
 A TV set, a stove and flat iron are connected in
series to a 220-V line. The resistance of the TV
set is 20 𝛺, the stove is 50 𝛺 and the flat iron is
35 𝛺. Find the following:
RT = 105 𝛺
a. The total resistance
b. The amount of current
IT = 2.10 A flowing in each
device.
c. TheV1 voltage drop across each device.
= 42V ; V2 = 105V; V3 = 73.5V
SAMPLE PROBLEM
 A refrigerator and a rice cooker are
connected in parallel to a 220-V line. The
current in the refrigerator is 10-A and in
the rice cooker is 4-A. Find the following:
a. The resistance of each device R = 22 𝛺 ; R = 55 𝛺

c. The current flowing in the line IT = 14 A
