CIRCUITS
MULTIPLE LOAD CIRCUITS
PARALLEL
CIRCUIT
SERIES CIRCUITS
It has two or more
loads but current flows
through a single
conducting path.
PARALLEL CIRCUITS
It has two or more
loads but current
flows in more than
one path.
SERIES vs. PARALLEL
If any of the circuit is It allows operation of
open, current stops other loads even if one
flowing and voltage load fails.
and power removed
from all loads.

SAMPLE PROBLEM
A TV set, a stove and flat iron are connected in
series to a 220-V line. The resistance of the TV
set is 20 𝛺, the stove is 50 𝛺 and the flat iron is
35 𝛺. Find the following:
RT = 105 𝛺
a. The total resistance
b. The amount of current
IT = 2.10 A flowing in each
device.
c. TheV1 voltage drop across each device.
= 42V ; V2 = 105V; V3 = 73.5V
SAMPLE PROBLEM
A refrigerator and a rice cooker are
connected in parallel to a 220-V line. The
current in the refrigerator is 10-A and in
the rice cooker is 4-A. Find the following:
a. The resistance of each device R = 22 𝛺 ; R = 55 𝛺
