 Last year’s Report 1 was different to this year’s brief. It was more
theoretical and so AI weak.
 This year’s Report 1 brief is similar to Scenario 1 of this year’s Report 2
brief.
 There are 2 examples of last year’s 2023 Report 2, in the section

assignment brief.
 You can use last year’s report to show how students handled creating
statements and providing commentary on statements and scenarios

What is MS Excel and some of its basics:
• Excel spreadsheet arrangement & Data entry,
• Types of data – text, numbers and formulas,
• Formatting data – text, number (currency, comma, decimal, date, text
alignment, cell manipulation (merging, adjusting width and height),
sorting data
• Formulas – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, sum & average
• Complete the exercise on the next slide

Excel Practice:
• Create a spreadsheet for Madupe & Family Fruit Company purchases
this week:
• 250lbs of apples @£0.25 per lbs, 550lbs of oranges @ £0.42 per lbs,
675lbs of bananas @£0.35 per banana, 75lbs of strawberries @£1.80 per
lbs. Calculate the total amount of fruit purchased in weight and in cost.
Create appropriate labels to make the report helpful to the general
manager.
