• Name: Aimee Eve
• Position: Nursing Professional Development
Associate OB Educator (NPDA)
• She works for both L&D and Mom/Baby at St.
Elizabeth Youngstown and St. Joseph
• Also helps educate in the NPDA department as
needed
Education and Years of Experience
• Graduated in 2013 with her ADN from Kent State
• She started her career on the PCC unit at St. Elizabeth Youngstown
• She transferred to L&D in 2014
• In 2017, she got her BSN from Kent State
• She became a travel nurse from 2019-2023 along the west coast, while
staying PRN on L&D
• She accepted the position of NPDA in July of 2021
• This position requires a Masters degree, that she began to work
towards in 2022 and continues to do so
Difficulty of School/Training
• Training wasn’t difficult for her, but it was dense and
extensive
• Her 10 years of OB experience was helpful
• Learning the role of NPDA was the hardest part for her
• The structure is much different in comparison to staff
educator
• Her coworkers are always willing to help her
Reason for Choosing this Field
• She always had a passion for nursing
• She never thought she would be an educator, because
during school she despised that part of it
• As she progressed through her career, she realized how
much she enjoys teaching, which has become her
passion

• Not working nights, weekends or holidays
• Paid salary
• Set 8-hour schedule
• Great PTO

• Not having flexibility like working travel or PRN
• She feels like the company has control over
her life
• Working 5 days a week
• She would prefer 3 12s or 4 10s
Grant Funding in this Position
• She is unsure being so new to the role, but she is
going to do further investigation
Staffing and Supplies
• Most NPDAs have a partner to split the job duties with,
however, she works alone and that can become frustrating
• This does give her job security, because she feels like her
position can’t be given away due to downsizing
• She doesn’t believe there is enough supplies for education,
especially because Mercy Health is supposed to be a teaching
hospital
• She believes they should have better simulation
mannequins and equipment for staff to practice with
