 What is digital publishing?
John Battelle's definition of Digital Publishing
is "Connecting a community through the art
and science of communication."

DIGITAL PUBLISHING- "The use of digital technology to replace written material

so that it can be disseminated and accessed through computerized electronic
devices."

If that sounds too technical, try this: "Taking anything that

could be done in print, sound, or that can be seen with the
eyes and putting it into a format that can be accessed by
computer technology."
Examples of Digital Publishing
Examples of materials that are fast emerging in the world of digital
publishing include converting (or creating):

Newsletters
Journals and blogs
Advertisements
Company Reports
Catalogs
Books, magazines, and other periodicals,
Massive libraries, resource materials, and databases;
Scrapbooks.
 Digital Publication
The world of publishing is changing drastically thanks
to the web; just as the world of music and the world
of television have been changed by the internet.
Today, a ‘book’ doesn’t necessarily have to be a
physical item printed on paper. It can just as easily be
an ebook, an online course, an ezine or anything
else.
While this isn’t an exhaustive list then, here are some of the most
common forms of digital publications:

Perhaps the most well-known and commonly used is the ebook.

Ebooks are popular among digital marketers right now as a way

for them to publish their content online and a form of product
they can sell. These are sometimes referred to as informational
products in that their value comes from the fact that they provide
some form of information.
Electronic publishing- includes the
digital publication of e-books, digital
magazines, and the development of
digital libraries and catalogues. It also
includes an editorial aspect, that
consists of editing books, journals or
magazines that are mostly destined to
be read on a screen.
 Digital Printing

Digital printing is a method of printing from a digital-

based image directly to a variety of media. It usually
refers to professional printing where small-run jobs
from desktop publishing and other digital sources
are printed using large-format and/or high-volume
laser or inkjet printers.
