GEOGRAPHY ELP PROJECT

NAME - MOHD RIZAN AAQIL

CLASS - 6 D
SUBJECT - GEOGRAPHY
TOPIC - LANDFORMS OF EARTH
WATER BODIES
INTERNATIONAL EVENT - EARTH DAY
In this project I will give a big thanks
to my teacher as she helped me a lot. I
have took some answers from google,
I also want to give thanks to my
parents for helping in this project.
Q) What makes our Earth a liveable planet?
Ans- Our Earth is a liveable planet as It is the right distance from
the Sun, it is protected from harmful solar radiation by its magnetic
field, it is kept warm by an insulating atmosphere, and it has the
right chemical ingredients for life, including water and carbon. The
processes that shape the Earth and its environment constantly cycle
elements through the planet. This cycling sustains life and leads to
the formation of the mineral and energy resources that are the
foundation of modern technological society.
Q) Why is our Earth called ‘Blue Planet?
Ans- Our Earth is called the ‘Blue Planet’ as our planet looks blue from outer
space since its two-thirds of the surface is covered with water, so it is called a
blue planet. That is 71% of the earth is covered by water. It is the fifth-largest
planet in terms of size. On the poles, it is slightly flattened. The form of the
Earth is defined as a geoid. Conditions conducive to sustaining life are only
likely to be found on earth. It has air and water, which are very important in
life. The air has life-supporting gases like oxygen. When looked from the
space it appears blue due to those water bodies.
Q) What percentage of the Earth is land and
what percentage is water?
Ans- 71% of Earth is water while 29% is land.

29%
LAND
71%
WATER
Q) Select the ways you would like to make
every day Earth Day
Ans- The ways In which I would like to make every day Earth day
are:-

• Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

• Conserve Water

• Find pollution solution

• Drive Smart
• Compost food and yard waste

• Don't forget your reusable bag when you go

shopping

• Plant a tree
Q) How are the Earth’s resources are
exploited for human use?
Ans- Earth’s resources are exploited for human use as
materialistic views lead to the mining
of gold and diamonds to produce jewelry, unnecessary
commodities for human life or advancement.
Consumerism also leads to extraction of resources for
the production of commodities necessary for human
life but in amounts excessive of what is needed,
because people consume more than is necessary or
waste what they have. The number of humans is
increasing. According to the UN, the world population
was 7.6 billion in 2017. This number is expected to
rise to about 10 billion in 2050 and about 11 billion in
2100. Excessive demand often leads to conflicts due
to intense competition. Organizations such as Global
Witness and the United Nations have documented the
connection.
Lack of awareness among the population is striking.
People are not aware of ways to reduce depletion and
exploitation of materials.
Q) What efforts can be made by humans for
environment protection?
Ans- The efforts that can be made by humans for environment
protection are:-

• Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away.
Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill
space.

• Conserve water. The less water you use, the less runoff and
wastewater that eventually end up in the ocean.
• Plant a Tree. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help
save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change.

• Don't send chemicals into our waterways. Choose

non-toxic chemicals in the home and office.

• Educate. When you further your own education, you can

help others understand the importance and value of our
natural resources.

• Volunteer. Volunteer for cleanups in your community. You

can get involved in protecting your watershed, too.
• Use long-lasting light bulbs. Energy efficient
light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Also
flip the light switch off when you leave the room!
Q) Research about Earth Day ?
Earth Day is an annual celebration that honors the
achievements of the environmental movement and
raises awareness of the need to protect
Earths natural resources for future generations.
Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 in the United
States and on either April 22 or the day the
spring equinox occurs throughout the rest of the
world.
