Habitats for plants
◦ Aquatic Plants
◦ Aquatic plants are plants that have adapted to living in aquatic environments(saltwater or freshwater).
They are also referred to as hydrophytes or macrophytes to distinguish them from algae and other
microphytes. A macrophyte is a plant that grows in or near water and is either emergent, submergent, or
floating. In lakes and rivers macrophytes provide cover for fish, substratefor aquatic envertebrates,
produce oxygen, and act as food for some fish and wildlife. Some example of aquatic plants are lotus and
hydrilla. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA

◦ Land plants
◦ Land plants are the plants that found on land, they are also referred as mesophytes. They are the most
commonly found plants, there root part is submerged in soil. Some examples of land plants are the
commonly found herbs and shrubs.
◦ Desert Plants
◦ Desert plants are the plant suited to the environment of arid regions of little rainfall that often stores water in its
tissues or hollow center and reduces transpiration by total or seasonal leaflessness or by a densely hairy, waxy,
varnished.
Q)How can we protect the flora and the
fauna of a place?
◦ To protect our flora and fauna and their natural
habitats, protected areas have been earmarked
where plantation, cultivation, grazing, felling trees,
hunting and poaching are prohibited.
World environment health day
◦ World Environmental day is celebrated on 26th September every year
by the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH)
Council to promote the awareness of different issues surrounding the
environmental health. The world environment health day celebration
started in 2011 at IFEH meeting and inaugural event of Environmental
Health Youth Summit in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.International
Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) is an international
organisation promoting the significance of environmental health and
provide a common global platform for national organisations who are
working for the same cause. For more than 32 years IFEH is actively
working to improve the health issues that constantly threaten the
human well-being and to promote the study of environmental health.
Life on land,climate action,life
underwater
◦ Life on land
◦ Healthy oceans and seas are essential to our existence. They cover 70 percent of our planet and we rely on
them for food, energy and water. Yet, we have managed to do tremendous damage to these precious
resources. We must protect them by eliminating pollution and overfishing and immediately start to
responsibly manage and protect all marine life around the world.
◦ Climate action
◦ Climate change is a real and undeniable threat to our entire civilization. The effects are already visible
and will be catastrophic unless we act now. Through education, innovation and adherence to our climate
commitments, we can make the necessary changes to protect the planet. These changes also provide huge
opportunities to modernize our infrastructure which will create new jobs and promote greater prosperity
across the globe.
◦ Life on land
◦ A flourishing life on land is the foundation for our life on this planet. We are all
part of the planet’s ecosystem and we have caused severe damage to it through
deforestation, loss of natural habitats and land degradation. Promoting a
sustainable use of our ecosystems and preserving biodiversity is not a cause. It
is the key to our own survival.
Bibliography
◦ I have taken the information from the web ,biology book and
encyclopedia. And my parents and teacher had helped me a lot.
