DC Power Supply

DC power supplies convert AC input voltage

into lower DC output voltage, providing
direct current to loads in electronic devices
and converting one DC voltage into another.
Linear Power Supply
Linear power supplies are AC-to-DC converters that filter
and rectify AC input voltage. The load's ripple tolerance
often determines the filtering needed, but some applications
may ignore it entirely, such as battery charging, using a
simple power supply.
Switched- Mode
Power Supply
Switched-mode power supply (SMPS) devices
alternate between various operational states, hence
lowering the required AC-to-DC voltage and current.
Through the use of a high-frequency inductor or
transformer, they produce alternating current, rectify
AC input, and filter DC voltage. Current restrictions
and insulation are examples of safety features.
Capacitive ( Transformerless)
Power Supply

AC-to-DC converters, either transformerless or

capacitive, use capacitors to convert incoming voltage
into a rectified waveform. They lower the mains input
voltage, filter, regulate, and rectify to create a steady DC
output. However, capacitive power supplies require sturdy
insulation and a voltage reduction capacitor to protect
against high voltage.
Linear Regulator
A linear regulator is a crucial electronic device in a
power supply that controls output voltage by
converting DC voltage to a constant lower voltage
and performing current-limiting tasks. It is
recommended for maintaining steady output voltage,
reducing noise, and minimizing output voltage
magnitude and ripple.
AC Power Supply
The voltage and current of an appliance are regulated by
AC power supply to safe levels by producing alternating
current (AC) output at a specified frequency and voltage.
Stepping the voltage up or down and then filtering the input
helps them fine-tune the power so that the load receives the
necessary amount of power. Separation transformers or
single power sources may offer comparable outputs in both
AC and DC formats.
AC Adapter
AC adapters, built into alternating current main
power plugs, transmit DC or AC output over
hard-wired connections, generating magnetic and
electric fields even without load, making them
essential for traditional power strips.
Programmable Power Supply

In automated test equipment, programmable

power supplies (PPS) are sophisticated AC-to-
DC converters with remote control that provide
great precision, flexibility, and control via
digital interfaces or analog inputs.
Uninterruptible Power
Supply
Even in the event of a power outage, a load can
receive constant electrical energy from
uninterruptible power supply (UPS). They
charge a storage battery with power that comes
from several sources. UPSs can supply power for
prolonged periods of time and offer protection
against surges, undervoltage, and overvoltage.
High- Voltage Power
Supply
High-voltage power supplies use intricate
power conversion circuits to convert lower
voltage potentials into greater ones, used in
devices like X-ray generators, focused ion
beams, and electron microscopes.
Bipolar Power Supply
Bipolar power supplies, a type of low-
bandwidth operational amplifier, are
commonly employed in scientific
applications to supply power to
magnetic devices by producing both
positive and negative voltages from a
single AC source.
