 EMOTIONAL CONSEQUENCES IN EARLY PREGNANCY
STRESS
 is defined as a physiological and emotional
responses to significant or unexpected change to
one’s life. It may also refer to what you feel when
you react to pressure from the outside world or
from yourself.
 Stress: School, work demands, social stigma, and
discrimination are all stressors that young moms
may face during and after their teen pregnancy.
 SOCIAL CONSEQUENCES IN EARLY PREGNANCY
STIGMA AND DISCRIMINATION

 STIGMA- a strong lack of respect for a

person or a group of people or a bad
opinion of them because they have done
something society does not approve of.
 DISCRIMINATION- to treat that person
differently, or less favorably, for some
reason.

STIGMA AND DISCRIMINATION- Guilt,

isolation, and shame are all feelings that
young mothers may face when they are met
with social stigma and discrimination
associated with becoming a mother at a
young age.
