Electrical Cable Damages

Scenario:
Two cable damages resulted in August, 2019 as

result of driver over cables. One Cable resulted

in fire and one was damaged only but no fire.

Causes of Damaging the Cables:

• Drive over unprotected cables on the ground X
• Improper covering of cables by planks
• Lack of Inspection of Electrical cables/

installations
• No wooden stands to hang cable at 2m height
• Poor Cable Management.
Corrective Actions: X
• Cable on the ground must be protected with

wooden planks/covers or buried if required

• Use of wooden stands to hang cable at 2 m

height
• Electrician to conduct daily inspection of all

electrical installations (by using Form-100)

• Always switch-off and unplug electric devices at

the end of shift
