INTRODUCTION
This design documentation deals with the 1st part of civil engineering object CO 32
Landscaping, vegetation – power plant site rough grading. To it related works are focused
on existing ground rough grading at the area outlined by fencing prior to construction
commencement.
Before grading works beginning, the existing dwelling house will be demolished. This
demolition is not included in this design documentation.
Outside grading works in connecting at „Katcha path“ and „Shaikpura Muridke Road“ is
not included in this design documentation.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION

2.1 GRADING WORKS

Grading works will be performed from existing ground surface. Based on geological survey
results, no topsoil (plough-land) was found at the site area.

In the course of time, however, a spontaneous site grassing has occurred, it is taken into
consideration ca 2/3 of site area, i.e. 126.850 m2. A 10 cm thick green-sward/soil mixed
layer will be scraped off, i.e. in total 12 690 m3. This material will be transported to a soil
deposit, where it will be stored. Investor will determine the deposit locality. In the design it
is supposed a distance of 5 km. That stored soil will be after further treatment (fertilizing,
etc.) utilized for humus spreading at site area within the scope of final ground completion –
to be solved in the 2nd part of this civil engineering object.

The scope of grading works is stated in the Enclosure No.003 – Grading general layout.
As it was already said, grading works will be realized only within existing fencing of the
site. Power plant site area will be prepared in one altitude at level 206.70 m above sea.
The area at the main gatehouse will be at level 206.70 m. This design respects both
existing ground surface configuration and requirements on the most appropriate
connection between single technological units of the power plant.

As it is stated in the grading works table, these works consist of groundwork cutting in
amount 16 597 m3 and 14 900 m3 filling. Most of groundwork will be performed at the
western part of power plant fencing. Excavated soil will be used for filling works, the
missing volume 26 520 m3 will be supplemented with soil from diggings gained during
buildings foundation construction. Filling will be compacted up to min. 95% Proctor
Standard scale.

Acc. to geological survey, at the site area there were found argillaceous earth and clays,
hich materials are not too appropriate for filling. Layer of grading works filling will consist of

various kinds of soil existing on the site (soil from excavations performed within grading
works, soil from excavations for civil structures foundations). The contractor will carry out a
test prior grading works commencement to verify a proper way of excavated soil
compaction. In case, that the compaction test will prove in the course of grading works,
that some sorts of soil are not appropriate for filling even after their properties
improvement (by addition of other suitable soil from the site area or by addition of
stabilizing substances (e.g. lime, cement), then a relevant amount of inappropriate soil will
be replaced by another one, brought from an external borrow pit. In this way required
quality parameters of filling slopes could be achieved.

The remaining areas will be covered by topsoil and grassed in the end of construction –
see the 2nd part of this CO.

Grading works will be suspended in approx. 2 m distance from newly built fencing in such
places, where the designed altitude of graded ground surface will exceed the surrounding
ground level. After completion of new fencing construction, the interrupted grading works
will be completed up to the fence.

2.2 DRAINAGE

Drainage of the internal roads will be included in CO 23 Roads and hard surafces. The
ditch will fall into inlet pit of storm water sewerage system, which is designed in CO 29
Sewerage.

2.3 GRADING AREA STAKING

Planimetry and altimetry (horizontal and vertical) system of this CO relates to available
coordinates system, as well as to altitude system of existing ground. Obtained geodetic
survey provides input data for this design.
