1.0 Objectives :

Procedure and method to be adopted for carrying out repairing of concrete

surface honeycomb in a safe manner and recording details for proper
measurement.

2.0 Scope :
The procedure is applicable for all concrete surface honeycomb repair subject to
depth of honey comb up to 50 MM.

4.0 Materials to be used :

● Cement as per IS:269

● Coarse and Fine aggregate as per IS:383

● Water as per IS:456

● Fosroc GP2/Rendroc/Equivalent from BASF and Sika

5.0 Equipment :

● Wire Brush

● Chisel

● Hammer

● Plumb Bob

● Trowel

● Concrete Breaker/Chipping Machine

6.0 Work Procedure :

The depth of Honeycomb up to 50mm :-

● For repairing of surface air voids cement mix can be used by the ratio of 1.2 where
cement is 1 part and sand is 2 part.

● Loose particles to be removed from the honeycomb area by hammer and wire brush.

● Surface of the pocket shall be made wet and cement slurry to be applied over it.

● Then GP2/Rendroc/Equivalent material to be filled at the pocket as as per

manufacturer technical data sheet.

● Most of the tamping should be directed at a slight angle towards the side of the
pocket to ensure maximum compaction and bond.

● Extra water shall not be used to facilitate finishing.

● If the depth of honeycomb exceeds 50mm :

 It will be dealt separately case to case basis.

7.0 Safety :

Providing Safe access i.e Ladders, Stair Cases and Platforms to go to the work place

Providing hand rails , mid rails, toe boards

Ensuring all workers wear proper PPEs

Giving trailing to workers how to work safely at scaffolding deck.

Checking scaffolding regularly

Regular inspection of Electrical DBs, ELCBs, Cables

Providing sufficient illumination during night times

Providing proper fire fighting facilities

Providing first aid and ambulance facility round the clock during concrete

Providing proper Sign Boards

8.0 Supervision :

The RCM shall be over all in charge of all activities assisted by Construction Manager &
Senior Engineers. Supervision shall be arranged by two shifts. The chart showing the
names of individuals with shift duties shall be submitted two days before
commencement of work.

9.0 Control Room at Site :

Control room shall be set up at a convenient place near work location to monitor and
co-ordinate all activities. Mobile phones shall be issued to all key personnel for timely
interaction with each other.
