    HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION On Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Grand Rapids Police responded to the Veterans Facility, 3000 Monroe Ave. NW, on the report of a patient that had passed away. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the victim had been assaulted by another patient on April 14th, 2012. The victim had been taken to the hospital for examination following the assault, released, and returned to the Veterans Facility. Hospital staff found the victim deceased in his bed on April 17, 2012. On Wednesday, April 18th, 2012, the Kent County Medical Examiners Office conducted an autopsy on the victim, Andrew Robinson Ball, DOB 5/17/1927. The medical examiner ruled the death of Ball a homicide. The cause of death was determined to be medical complications due to blunt force trauma. The Major Case Team is investigating this homicide.
