The Division of Soul as a Calling for Sociologist

The objective of this article is to examine various issues that were

raised by sociologist Cho Eun's documentary film entitled "A Nice
Place." As is known, Cho Eun is a sociologist who has broadened
the horizons of his studies through a novel and a film, thereby
continuously expanding the scope of his sociological exploration. "A
Nice Place" is a film that introduces the life of a family whom she
first met in a redevelopment area in Seoul's Sadang-dong in the late
1980s. She kept in contact with the family for 22 years and captured
their lives on film from a sociological perspective. In the tradition of
Korean sociology, it is rare to see a sociological documentary to take
such a unique approach, and in this respect, this work serves as an
efficient vehicle for the academic world of sociology to reflect on
various issues. The thesis will evaluate the achievement of "A Nice
Place" by examining the following four aspects. First, it will examine
how the film offers an opportunity to reflect on the time in sociological
research. Secondly, it will examine the method used in the film that
we will conceptualize as sociological monadology. Thirdly, it will
examine the visual presentation of writing. Finally, it will examine the
identity of a sociologist who performs the above-mentioned tasks, as
